I'm hoping it comes in under $43k but my purchase depends on how it shakes out against the Mustang Mach1...
Any idea when we're due to get more details? |

Is the Mach 1 anything more than a rumor at this point?

Frustratingly, it's still only slightly more than a rumor. A test mule had been spotted a month or so back with what looks like the exhaust from the GT350. This among other clues, people are talking that it might have a conventional-crank version of the 5.2L.
So I had been set on holding out for the Mustang refresh, regardless...but I finally got to drive a 6th gen Camaro SS over the weekend and it knocked my socks clean-off. It's was just spectacular enough to make a guy think. An SS/1LE sounds like it might be absolutely magical...but I've had two amazing back to back ownership experiences with Mustangs. I hope to know more about this new model before I put cash down on a 1LE but there's suddenly a very good chance that Chevrolet will get my money. |

Also I would find conventional crank 5.2L rather silly when they aready have a 5.0L If they want to experiment, make a "Boss" with a 6.0+ displacement engine. Everyone knows they have maxed out what a 5.0L is capable of within the mustangs price bracket. They need to add size to stay competitive power wise.

Since a Mach 1 (if it happens) can't outperform the Shelby GT350, which will not be all that better of a performer than a SS 1LE by my estimates, I wouldn't expect the Mach 1 to beat a SS 1LE, it MAY be close to a regular SS considering how badly a SS beats up on a regular GT, even if it has the PP.

![]() I'm thinking that the 6th gen Camaro owns this generation of pony car wars...but I have no brand loyalty. I love them all and I'll buy the best one. |

They don't have to limit the Mach 1 if the GT350 goes away. There's nothing to keep Ford from having the GT350 be limited to 2 or 3 model years and then use the 5.2 block and heads with a cross plane crank for the Mach 1.

That's what I'm hoping to see. Mag ride, 5.2L, and less restricted and not such a pain in the ass to get.

Funny, I feel the same way. I guess it is because I grew up as a kid owning these Camaros, Firebirds and Trans-Ams for pretty cheap. I know they have come along way but it still feels weird to say Camaro and $40-50k in the same sentence.

$45K is a good number. After that, you are too close to $50K and a lot of other options.

I paid $41k but if I got close to $50k I probably would have bit the bullet and found the money for a Stingray at that point.

I've had the same thought as you in the past...and every time I price out a Stingray to be close to how I want my Camaro...I'm at least $10k over what I'd pay for the Camaro ![]() Do you find the same? |
