Agree with a few others that have mentioned a change of brake pad might solve the problem. The issue is less about the actual braking performance (because, as noted, they stop well) and more about how the system seems to have been tuned.
Just as there is a bit of lag in the accelerator pedal (which is making a lot of people run the Vitesse) there seems to be a level of lag built into the brake pedal. I am highly considering going with the brake pads that I have never really liked on other cars but know that the initial bite is high (Stoptech street pads). A pad with high initial bite for the street might fix a lot of the problems without having to address it more expensively (different brake master cylinder or some other change to the hydraulic system). I'm no expert so I intend to do a lot of research and let some of the actual experts weigh in after at least a season of driving.

If you've never driven a car that was fitted with pads having really aggressive "bite" - and trying to discuss OP's question in terms of stopping distances and ABS suggests that neither of you have - you have no idea how much difference pads can make. If I was to let you drive the car in my sig, you'd end up testing the seatbelt/shoulder harness inertia reels for me, guaranteed (you'd probably face-plant the first time if you weren't belted). And that car is (still) on these little 12.4" brakes. Norm
