I know near me all of the dealers still don't have 1SS on the lot. They are filled with fully loaded 2SS starting at 45-46k. I'm glad I did the custom order or I would have still been waiting for a 1SS

I don't know why people are even buying as many 2SS cars as they are. They take a bath on the things when they try to sell them unless someone HAS to have leather. I don't really use all the gadgets on a new car b/c I'm too busy actually driving it to care about them.

Yup, the "base" model cars are too up-market now.

Start at 26k (2.0T)
$900 NPP
$1000 Sunroof
$500 Nav
$2000 RS Package
$1800 Auto trans

Almost all cars have these- you're now at $33000 for a base model car with no leather. Take off sunroof or nav (grab V6?) and you're still north of $30k. Base GT starts at 32! I have seen V6 (non VERTs) for $43k! And higher! Crazy

Which is why so many grab the SS- they want the performance. The 1SS is frankly a bargain for performance- no car is as well-rounded around a track in that price range. Stang and Scat Packs both can't handle either straights (Stang) or corners (Scat Pack).

I bought one and all I get are modded M6's, M5's and M4's knocking at my door... The struggle is real.

Buying a low option 1SS, A8 will end up being over $40k with taxes for almost everyone unless it's is a smoking deal. Blue collar people have a hard time spending that much $ for a car that's nearly a two seater.
Not anywhere close to over 40k even with minimal negotiating skills.

People go to the website, build and price. Who wants to have a salesman chewing on their leg for an hour? That build and price cost is what sticks in their head.

The advertised price on a dealers websites, the 1SS cars here only get below $40K with a M6 car, stripped.

Unless you get Employee pricing Mine with Auto and NPP, and Garnet Red was 37,080

My dealer has 29 sitting on the lot. Mix of 4cyl, V6 and V8. a few convertibles. Next closest dealer has 17 in stock. These dealerships are about 30 miles apart in a very populated area of northern Virginia. Availability isn't a problem here and they still aren't selling.

2 reasons:

1) lack of perceived value

2) looks: people that shop American pony/muscle/sports cars want their American pony/muscle/sports cars to look like American pony/muscle/sports cars. Simple as that. The new Camaro does not.
I know all on this board like it better, but what are you, a couple hundred people? In the grand scheme of things, you're a HUGE minority.

I'm not saying they are impossible to get, I have 18 in stock with 1 more on the way. Buildout for the 2016's is over so this is everything I will have until the 17's show up. Out of those cars I only have one 2SS Coupe available, those are the cars that have been selling the most by me.

The dealer I ordered through has only 2 6th gens, both 1SS. Both have been sitting there since they arrived a couple months ago. They really don't try to sell them from what the sales manager told me. So can't figure out why they ordered 1SS to begin with.

Why buy any new car with that reasoning? Everyone should buy used right? Just because you don't see the value in something doesn't mean there is none. Obviously there are far more people buying new cars than used now. And the people want those gadgets. You're really beating a dead horse.

That's a good price for sure. The sales tax here would be almost $1600 though.
