Nailed it again lol!

Exactly what I'm trying to say.. Most people like the styling of the new Stang as well.. looks are subjective of course so while it being cheaper, they will more than likely go that route.

And so are almost all other domestic makes, including the Mustang. There was 0% financing on the Mustang less than 6 months into production. And they were still selling better than the Camaro then.

Not saying price isn't playing in here...just not a sole factor.

A couple months ago GM was reporting record profits if I recall, so....
Even if they are happy with less volume and more per car. I bet that May will be looked at as a poor month. I can't see them being happy with this kind of volume for an all new model.

BUT Looking at the Ford sales(and paying attention to GM sales as a whole), looks like May was bad for everyone so maybe just a slumping month

From a street guy view, here it is. Not from a GM fan prospective or a bench racer/magazine numbers guy.

Used 2012 Mustang Gt. = about $20K + $6k for a blower = car that runs high 10's in the 1/4 for on average about $15k less with better visibility, cheaper insurance, and none of the problems of a first year car. I like the gen6 a lot but have spent a majority of my time here after the honeymoon phase of the early buyers wears off. I'm trying to see what the car is as a whole, not just performance numbers. I for one will not touch a '16 maybe not a '17 depending on how much of the little things they can get fixed.

What percentage of guys auto x their car, any brand? I'd say less than 5% nation wide. Most people generally obey the speed limit so if it's fast from A-to-B and sounds tough that's all that most average people care about. At this point I've only saw two gen6 cars on the road since the roll out. People aren't that worried about running into one with a lesser car b/c they haven't sold enough of them for many guys to have their buts handed to them buy one. Why worry about a car that you won't see except for MAYBE on the track. Buying a low option 1SS, A8 will end up being over $40k with taxes for almost everyone unless it's is a smoking deal. Blue collar people have a hard time spending that much $ for a car that's nearly a two seater.

I work at a dealer and it's still very hard to get these cars. I could sell many more of them if I could get my hands on em.

Anyone who cannot find these cars...isn't trying. The excuse of "lack of availability" is totally invalid now

It feels this way to me as well. I don't know if they are just keeping shifts low and therefore really carefully managing the inventory on this car, but I see like 3-5 on lots, and maybe they have a few more hidden away in the back on the two dealerships I go to near me.

When I drive by the Ford dealership right by my work it looks like they have 20-30 lined up in the front. Is there some philosphy/strategy that is making it so they keep the labor costs down and mainly sell at MSRP [or closer too it] vs making a whole bunch of these things and then discounting them to sell so they dont' sit on lots for a long time?

I disagree. there is a lack of availability, specifically of reasonably optioned cars. most dealerships are only ordering fully loaded cars, v6 Camaros reaching $38k+ and v8s starting at $47k+. Not everyone wants to pay that much for features they don't really need or even want.

It's priced too high. You can talk about "value" for your dollar all you want. The market is speaking. The consumers aren't seeing it.
