It's all good fun. But honesty as long as we all get built and delivered that's what matters.

My dealer was square with me

Now this time I found a dealer that truly did have allocation and my car went to 2000 status in 72 hours and then on to 3400 status just the other day. My first dealer told me he definitely had allocation but he did not.
I also signed a contract for a 2016 car. I was told there was no allocation, but they thought one would be forthcoming. Order was cancelled, have to buy a 2017. I believe most dealers would be truthful. I have nothing but good things to say about Rydell Chevrolet in Grand Forks.

Now that it's officially our "build month", does it feel like it's that much closer to anyone else? It's weird...it feels both closer and yet so far away.

So once our car is built and we have a Vin#...........how are people tracking their car with Onstar? I hear of people being able to track their car's movement across GM parking lots and on trains? Do we get Onstar information from our dealer that is specific to our car?

Yes, I would love to be able to track the car via Onstar! Someone explain how!

It feels closer yet so far away at the same time. You're not alone lol. But I do know the excitement is building.

Here is a thread to help with that.

Let's start a new and exclusive club for everyone who has gotten the run-around on dealer allocations. Ugh.

I didn't really get the run-around, exactly... When I first placed my order, the salesman said "we'll have to see what happens with allocation" and I just sort of nodded as said "oh, ok"; not really understanding what he meant.

Through my own research and reading, I learned all about it and after 3 weeks of no progress, I cancelled and went to Becky.

He never lied to me, but he also wasn't very forthcoming about the process and that sorta pissed me off.

Edit: Now that I read this, I did get the run-around! So screw them

Been there, tried that - http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=448570

Yelp is a place where people complain and few people put positive experiences. There is no good source (that I can find) for rating Dealers by verified buyers and making it public.

Embedding this information in the VIN would be the most logical place to put it!
If the VIN's are not sequential, then that takes some of the fun out of it.

Perhaps we can get details from the event history paperwork, but I don't have that on my checklist until when I pick up my car. Does anyone know if we can get a to-date event history prior to purchase?

To answer my own question, the event history will tell us the date. The only question is does it give a time. I have never seen one.

If we do enough searching on the site we can probably find the answers- like this one.

Realistically, we may not know the build time until delivery and looking on the frame somewhere for the sticker, assuming it's in roughly the same place as on the 5th Gen. Even that wasn't 100% accurate as it only meant the time the engine was married to the sub-frame I believe, not when the rest of the car was done, though the general rule at the time was add a few hours from that time because that's how long it took to get from the suspension shop to the production factory. Again, just going off my hazy memory from a thread that's years old now. At least this time I believe everything comes together in the same building?
