Fact is - many dealers lie. Why? Because they have been doing it so long they don't know any other way. They lie to keep you until they are actually given allocation. They lie about order status. They lie about having to give you your deposit back. They lie about lots and lots of things - just check a quarter of the threads on the board.

I signed an agreement that stated my deposit was fully refundable until GM scheduled the order for production (basically until it went to 3000 status). I did have to fight with them. They gave me crap about how hard they had worked to get me allocation

so they felt justified in not refunding my deposit.

I had to report them to my buying group I used and then I opened a case against them with VISA since I paid the $2K on a credit card. The GM called me and relented.

Hope for the best. Prepare for the worst. Review your legal obligations, line up your options, then call the GM at the dealer.

I had signed a contract to build a 2016 car...........so after five weeks of 1100 status and then finally orders for 2016 stopped being taken, I got my money back because the original contract was now void since I could no longer order my 2016 car. Now this time I found a dealer that truly did have allocation and my car went to 2000 status in 72 hours and then on to 3400 status just the other day. My first dealer told me he definitely had allocation but he did not.

Just saw in the other main tracking thread: Becky said the VIN #'s are not sequential.

But, there's got to be a way to tell what # your vehicle is in the production line...
Embedding this information in the VIN would be the most logical place to put it!
