I was thinking the same thing. In theory, we should only be excited for 2000 (Accepted), 3800 (Built), 4200 (Shipped), 6000 (Delivered to Customer). But watching each step is very exciting and we all are celebrating it lol. It's a blast to custom order and being in the same situation as others to share the excitement is fun as well. 3800 here we come!!

If you look at my signature, you will see what relying on the dealer does for four weeks before more education. I was even told I had a TPW and that my car was going to be built the next week. (I have it in a voicemail that I can listen two every time I want to increase my blood pressure.)

Fact is - many dealers lie. Why? Because they have been doing it so long they don't know any other way. They lie to keep you until they are actually given allocation. They lie about order status. They lie about having to give you your deposit back. They lie about lots and lots of things - just check a quarter of the threads on the board.

Well just found out why I'm still at 2000. I was ordering a 16 then it took a week for the allocation. Then they didn't catch that the 16 couldn't be ordered because of the cut off date. They didn't get the 17 in the system in till may 10th! Just now finding this out.

Dang that stinks. Means a price increase over the 16 they quoted you as well. And still wonder why it's sitting at 2000 still. Should be 3000 at least by now.

If we start tracking using OnStar, it will extend the excitement.

So Becky started questioning which of us would be built first, so it sounds like we need to start comparing VIN's next week! I am game if everyone else is. Winner gets bragging rights as the first 2017 in the group and this trophy -->

Exactly. Plenty of newbies to the ordering system who take the dealer's word. I got the print out of my workbench order (one, to be sure he put the right options in!) to ensure I had everything needed to track the order without a clueless salesman or sale manager too busy to return calls. I went home immediately after getting the order and Becky confirmed it was 2000 status. For once my dealer actually knew what he was doing lol.

Not sure if I'm going to OnStar track mine seeing as it goes across town from the assembly plant to her dealership for me.


I saw that. I'm all for comparing VINs and seeing who gets the coveted in our group. Lol.

Honestly I would love for my VIN number to be 50 (for 50th anniversary). Or if not that at least one of these: 67 (1967), 84 (my birth year), or if in the 4 digits 1967, 2017, or 1984.

I'm sure it will be one of the V6 orders since they're rolling them off first followed by the A8 then the M6.

We need to figure out who is first in each of these categories and they all share the trophy

Agreed. I have ordered a premium vehicle with my exact specifications. I demand to know where my car is in the whole process. If I could sit there with my popcorn at the factory, I would be right there behind the foreman watching the entire process. I heard the show 'How its made' did a 2016 Camaro episode. If anyone can help me pinpoint the episode number and season, that would be awesome. I caught a weird cam version on you tube a few weeks back and couldn't find the real one since.

I think I still have a deposit on a 2016 order I made that still hanging on 1100 status. My head has been rattled too many times in service and now I'm scrambling around for the local dealers card to contact them about my deposit. How did you get your money back from the deposit? I would hate to just outright cancel it and they file it as breach of agreement or something.
