50% of people had a problem substantial enough to go to the dealership. Granted this was back in February and dealerships are obligated to fix any outstanding recalls before the car is sale-able, but still.

It kind of blows my mind how people dump on this car so much in these very forums, but as soon as some of these points get mentioned to a potential buyer's thread like this one, suddenly everybody is defensive of their investment.
Lots of people went back to the dealer for problems that really don't need dealer involvement as well.

The poll will be insanely skewed anyways. 104 responses? That isn't enough of a sample size to gather meaningful evidence forums one side or the other.

Color may be gone (dark blue is 2016 only)

Car cost will be cheaper for 2016 (price goes up, and HBM color choice price goes up)

Insurance might be cheaper for you as a 2016 (a year old vs 0 years makes a difference on Progressive for me).

2017 may have options you want (50th, ZL1, 1LE, Arctic Blue color)

2017 may have better/worse reliability as stuff as fixed/new things break/new processes implemented.

I suspect true cost of 2017 will be negligibly different than 2016 unless you want HBM. I bet they bring out incentives within the next year to negative the $500 price increase.

Sorry, but where does GM say that the 1LE will ONLY be available on the 1SS package? Although not an official GM site, GMAuthority.com specifically says that the 1LE will be available on BOTH the 1SS and 2SS trim levels.

I had 4 Gen 5 cars they all had poor paint. Thin paint was the biggest complaint for me. Like they only gave it one coat. GM has never be the best in this area. I remember seeing many early 1970 Nova's with peeling paint.

Been discussed quite a lot. I've not seen any official source saying it will be available for 2SS.

Here's what Chevy says. Doesn't say limited to the 1SS.

It's been discussed a million times in the 1LE section...Al O said himself, 1SS only...but with some 2SS items like upgraded upolstrey (Alcantara suede and leather) HUD, etc...

When it comes to the 1LE..don't see the 1SS as a "low rent" interior. When you toss in the 1LE it becomes more like a 1.5SS lol.

I'll take the Alcantara suede and leather Recaros over the 2SS seats any day.

E-diff - cost $$$??
Performance Data Recorder - cost ?? Optional?
MRC - $1695
NPP - $895
6 piston front calipers - $3175
Suspension upgrades
Wheel and tires package - maybe a wash since the run flats actually cost more than the Goodyear F1 Supercar tires.
Hood wrap, suede bits, etc.
Couple things to note here.

1) The 6 piston brake upgrade on the current option list for $3175 is not the same thing as what is coming the the 1LE. The option is like you buying an aftermarket brake kit, and the dealership putting it on for you. You end up with the original parts AND the option parts. For the 1LE that will obviously not be the case so you can't use that $3175 price as a stand in for what the brakes cost on the 1LE.

2) The PDR is optional so won't be a part of the 'cost' of the 1LE option.

3) on the electronic diff, same idea as the brake upgrade. They are replacing the limited slip diff on the stock SS with a better one. No doubt this adds to the cost of the vehicle, but the increase isn't going to be that of going from no LSD to having and LSD. It will be going from 1 type of LSD to a better type of LSD.

I think I guessed the cost of the package would be between $5k and $6k.

It would be a good value at that price, but also probably represent a reasonable margin for GM.

Is the Mangetic Ride Control worth the extra money? I've been looking at the options and MRC adds about $1600 to the cost.

The 1LE will be nice with the 1SS option if you don't want the HUD display, lights etc especially for racing.

Thanks,

Thanks,
Are you talking about the 1LE or a SS?

1LE has HUD and MRC standard.

As for MRC being worth it, I think most agree the answer it is worth the money. But the standard SS suspension rides well enough that there are no complaints. At the same time an engineer described the non-MRC ride being in the middle of Tour/Sport on an MRC car. Track with MRC definitely feels more planted than a non-MRC car.

I have have MRC in my ZL1 and Z51. I love it. Al O has said that MRC in 1LE and ZL1 makes the car faster. Good enough for me.
