My first inclination was actually to search the state of CA and the Phoenix and Tucson areas and even into Austin figuring I had a better chance in these sunny states. I used the chevrolet site which seems to limit my search to 100 miles within a given zip code which really limited me.
Any better ideas to search?

I'm being pretty picky and I really want that Kalahari interior. Somewhat open to other colors.

Sounds like I need to follow up with my local dealer (s) to see if they have allocations and order soon to try and get it by end of august.

I'm finally on the right track. Tried two local dealers who both said they had allocations and it would be no problem.

However, both have failed miserably.

I finally saw the error of my ways and called Becky yesterday.

Yes but lease rates are not that great. About 58% RV for a 2SS (3yr/36k miles) and MF of 0.00140 with top tier credit.

Make sure to get your order number from your dealer (better yet ask for a copy of the GM Order Workbench sheet) and if you post in the order status thread Becky at Rodgers Chevrolet will check the status for you (or your dealer can, or Chevy Chat online).

Quickest I've seen an order go from being placed to getting a TPW is about a week. First status is 1100 when you place the order, 2000 when GM accepts it, assuming your dealer has allocation, and then around the 3000 range is when a TPW is assigned (I got my TPW when the status changed from 3000 to 3100).

Thank you so much for explaining the process to me. This is the first car I've ever ordered and was quite the thrilling experience! I have the paperwork and a friend of mine works at the dealership as a salesman. He's promised me to check the status of the order almost daily! Again, thanks for the information.

Yes sir! My current status is 1100, obviously, but now comes the hard part, the wait! But, since I turn 50 next year, this is the 50th anniversary of the Camaro, and this one will be my 4th Camaro, I've been waiting for this moment since I was 10 (when I fell in love with my first f-body, a '77 Formula Firebird, you could say I've waited all of my life for this moment. Know I remember what it's like to be 10 years old on Christmas eve! Oh god, the wait.....!!
