So I got my order placed today. The wait begins!

I would think it's a long shot all our cars are ready for pickup at the same time, but if they were I wouldn't mind picking them up at the same time.

Hi guys,

First post here, and I searched around but couldn't seem to find an answer.

I went to my local dealership yesterday to order my first Camaro. I was hoping for a 2016 hyper blue convertible (2LT). They called me back today saying they found out from their ordering person that GM is no longer accepting 2016 orders, and it would be a 2017.

My biggest question before proceeding with the order is when would I get it. I was told the 2016 was going to take about 2-3 months. Is it likely that the 2017 would be the same wait? Do they tell any of you when ordering?

Ordering for 2016 has closed out already. They are still making them but it's the last round of orders. 2017 ordering has been open since end of April and first production week starts 6/6. It's tough to say when you would get it due to the 2 week shutdown coming up along with they haven't started to build them yet. As well as with them being a new model year possiblity of long QC hold.

Laborsmith or Becky could give you much better estimate on when you could expect to take delivery if you order.

It all depends on when you order and if you're order is accepted because the dealership HAS to have open allocations to order.

Other option is have your local dealer look in the system for someone they trade with to see if they have a 16 matching what you're looking for.

Welcome. At this point 2-3 months is probably about right. The '17s don't start their first production week until 6/6. There will be a 2 week shutdown at the plant end of June as well. Plus QC holds for the new model year switch over. At this point very unlikely a order you place this week will be in before end of July, but nothing is certain.

Take a look at this thread. Has some great info about ordering I'd recommend if you are new to the process with GM. Be sure to find out that your dealer does indeed have 2017 allocations. If they didn't already know '16s can't be ordered any longer they probably didn't ever bother to check their allocations. Also note Hyper Blue is now a $395 option for 2017 cars.

No one has been able to order a 2016 Camaro since April 26.

The ability to get an order placed (2000) is allocation dependent. A dealer who is uncertain regarding getting an order placed may not have many allocations.

2017 orders have been placed and advanced to 3000 and have tentative production dates beginning the week of June 6.

I expect earliest 2017MY dealer deliveries will happen in the middle of July.

Another option is to check existing inventory. Check The Phoenix, AZ area. We tend to attract a lot of Verts. I just looked and there may be some hyper Blue 2LTs in inventory if you hurry. If you buy one, I want a ride!

My first inclination was actually to search the state of CA and the Phoenix and Tucson areas and even into Austin figuring I had a better chance in these sunny states. I used the chevrolet site which seems to limit my search to 100 miles within a given zip code which really limited me.
Any better ideas to search?

I'm being pretty picky and I really want that Kalahari interior. Somewhat open to other colors.

Sounds like I need to follow up with my local dealer (s) to see if they have allocations and order soon to try and get it by end of august.
