I purchased the intake over the weekend and installed. I drove a few hundred miles and I also notice the whistle. Like another poster said, I don't mind the sound and I actually think it sounds good personally. The only thing I am concerned about is that the intake doesn't fit into the air box straight on. I tried but was only successful in getting it in at an angle which leans towards the front of the car. It doesn't seem to cause any leaks and the rubber around the hole where the MAF tube meets the intake is tightly sealed. I am however concerned that I might have a mis-manufactured piece of tubing. It appears the rubber elbow connecting the MAF tube to the throttle body is too long. CAI, can you chime in on this please? Ill post a pic when I get home.

However im still curious as to why. This isn't my first intake I've ever done. I've installed intakes on other cars over the years, dual cold air intakes on my 350z and none were ever this anal about filter alignment. Correct me if I'm wrong but the filter is round cone type so essentially all sides are the same. The only part of the filter that's different is the seam where the element comes together. Does this seam, lining up with the MAF sensor angle help "block" some air going past the sensor to keep it from "seeing" too much air?

I think everyone is over reacting, especially if they whistle with the stock intake. Mine has never done that and I never heard it with the stock intake. So, just maybe its a GM issue, not CAI

I didn't unhook the battery cable and didn't get a light so that is a non-issue.

What did they do wrong.... What do i have to Bitch about.... Return it? Well for me its too late since the 6th of this month Amazon where i bought it from expired. I messaged CAI and they said i would have to return it to the seller which it is too late right now since i been waiting for a solution for a crap sounding whistle noise that CAI said they would come up with unless i read something wrong in one of the previous posts here in this thread. Ok so yea i can bitch and moan and yes i have done business with them in the past with no negative experiences but shit happens and there is a larger percent of people then originally thought out to be with this whistle noise issue. Its not so simple to just replace the stock intake back and resell mine for anything near what i paid so i stand waiting for that solution like some others here.

Brief update

I installed my intake over lunch today. Being slightly lazy, I did not remove the negative cable from the battery. I was able to install the intake in under 30 min, and everything fit perfectly. I then drove to pick my kids up from school and to Best Buy. However, due to locations, I never got over 50 MPH, and I was not able to get on the gas. So far, no whistles and no codes.

As my wife received her college acceptance letter today (it is never too late), we went to dinner to celebrate. Again, under 50, and no issues. After dinner, we decided to take the long way home with the top down (side note - first time she has been in the car since I bought it). Once I got on the interstate, punched it. She sounded great, and still no codes or sounds. Once we got back to the main roads, I was playing with the throttle some, and I was able to get a very slight whistle that lasted less than half a second if I would punch it and jump right back off the gas.

As I mentioned this was very slight. If it was not for this thread, I would just take it as sounds from the unrestricted air flow due to the new intake. I will take it for a longer drive tomorrow evening and see if anything changes.

To be honest, if I was in your position I would feel the same exact way. Demand quality from quality vendors. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. It's very easy for people unaffected to say stop complaining.
Btw, I'm unaffected as I did not buy CAI.

Thank you CAI for making the blog and video for us. That is exactly the noise I hear only mine is louder. Do you guys think Chevy will even bother addressing something like this? It's kind of absurd : /. The guy with the MSD manifold getting the whistle as well. What's that about?

The stock setup does not have this issue. That's like blaming GM for an aftermarket exhaust not sounding good or being too loud.
