After a shipping mix-up (sent a gen 5 version initially), I will be installing mine today. I will let you if I get a whistle after a couple test drives.

However im still curious as to why. This isn't my first intake I've ever done. I've installed intakes on other cars over the years, dual cold air intakes on my 350z and none were ever this anal about filter alignment. Correct me if I'm wrong but the filter is round cone type so essentially all sides are the same. The only part of the filter that's different is the seam where the element comes together. Does this seam, lining up with the MAF sensor angle help "block" some air going past the sensor to keep it from "seeing" too much air?

Thanks
Bump for a response from CAI

Agree with Atra too. I'm still curious as all hell why the filter has to be rotated exactly in this position. Mine was only rotated 3/4" of inch off the mark. It cant be that sensitive.

But since slo_1ss is getting a whistle with the Atomic manifold even...it leaves questions to be answered.

Right now, I'm holding my breath and I'm going to give the intake some more time and CAI to answer us. But if the car throws another code or a whistle starts to develop...back to OE i go.

We are all still waiting for something or someone to fix our problems with our CAI's. I just had trip to the store with sunny nice weather for the first time in a few weeks and the whistle noise is overriding my exhaust sound which is very irritating and almost went to my buddies garage to get this taken off for good but holding down my patience till CAI responds with a answer...

I guess I don't see a problem. I didn't unhook the battery when I installed mine and that probably set the code. The instructions said to do that. I've install a bunch cold airs on many a car and truck and never took the negative off. So, I think I probably caused the issue, so I went back as I said and pulled the maf unhooked the battery and no issues. Just do what the instructions say and you shouldn't have a problem. I think everyone is over reacting, especially if they whistle with the stock intake. Mine has never done that and I never heard it with the stock intake. So, just maybe its a GM issue, not CAI

I don't doubt the guys at CAI know what they're doing. Just a probability thing for me. The probability of the intake manifold causing this issue vs that of an aftermarket part is well...not in the favor of CAI. Now that someone has come forward with the noise sans the part they claim to be causing it I am losing faith somewhat : /. Don't let me down CAI!!

I wouldn’t believe everything you hear on the net. What I don’t understand is it’s the same select few people bitching and bitching. CAI already said if you’re not happy return if for a refund.I don’t know if all the new guys know this but CAI has been a sponsor and a positive contributor to this site for a long time. I’ve been lurking camaro5 since 2010 and now camaro6 and they have been a stand up company for as long as I can remember.

Which is why i purchased it in the first place. This isn't my first product from them. And it is also not my first intake. When you spend around 400 you expect things to be as advertised. We have the right to expect a level of quality and standards that they are known for. So I will continue to bitch. Please troll under another bridge...

Just to clarify I don't mind the whistle. I hear it under moderate throttle at moderate speeds. I just posted because CAI is attributing the whistle to the oem intake....

Hello Forum members,

We appreciate your support!

This should help everyone understand the origin of the now infamous "whistle noise"
