It is a decent car if you don't race it. Take it out as your track car and the thing just starts to fall apart (literally). It just isn't built for hard driving

Also I'm not entirely sure how you see that the C7 isn't a comparison to the 911? Lets take a base C7 and see what it does to a base 911. It won't be pretty. Even the Carrera 4S will struggle to keep up with the C7 Z51, 911 Turbo vs Z06. I find the C7 to be very much on the same level of performance as the 911.

I'd be interested in a Camaro 1LE vs Cayman GT4 comparo. I could see that being a VERY interesting comparison for some people. The GT4 obviously more expensive, but just how good is the Camaro? Lets hope someone finds out. |

It's all about what you are looking for.
Looking for fast lap times ? Yes the V6 1LE will do good lap times. It will have all the cooling and stiffer suspension of the Standard 2016 SS. Does it make it a good driver's car? you tell me... Miata is so much fun to drive, but when it comes to lap times you are in the wrong place. Fiesta ST is also a fun car, but same as the Miata. I'm looking for power and fast lap times....others might look for the feeling of a vert or a nimble little car. Others will prefer the great cruising abilities that a Dodge Challenger has. Pick your poison .

I'm with you on being interested in the GT4 vs 1LE comparison. I think there is an argument to be made that they MIGHT be cross shopped. In this case if someone is looking for a trackable daily driver and has the money for such a luxury, a GT4 isn't so expensive that it's completely out of the league of the Camaro. I'd expect a GT4 vs 1LE comparo to be similar to the 2SS vs M4 comparo as far as price difference goes. |

Let us not forget Car and Drivers 2015 lightning lap feature.
The Z06 is the second fastest car they have ever taken around VIR, bested only by the $845,000 Porsche 918 Spyder. The Z06 lapped faster than the McLaren 650S Spider, Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4, 911 GT3, and the Merc. AMG GTS. http://www.caranddriver.com/features...d-more-feature |

I hope you're expectations are correct regarding the handling. This car seems like it would be a significant value from a handling perspective. Many articles I've read suggest GM put their dollars into the platform for the ATS. I'm happy to see the cross application to the Camaro. I've never been a big Camaro guy. An ex-girlfriend in the 90's bought herself a new '98 Trans Am as her first car out of college. On occasion I'd persuade her to throw me the keys to take it for a spin. That thing was a blast.... just found this article. Crazy how far these cars have come in 18 years or so. The as tested price of $31K is equivalent to $45K today for very similar performance to the RS. I wonder what kind of $$$ you had to spend 20 years ago to get today's SS performance? http://www.motortrend.com/news/1998-pontiac-trans-am/ I'm looking forward to seeing what the 1LE package will cost and how it will perform. I hope to daily this car, but still mix in my Street Triple R moto for a different kind of adrenaline fix. Will have a paid for '10 Subie Forester for grocery and kid moving duties and my wife's Volvo S60 T5 AWD for occasional client duty. As you moved from a 5thgen v6 to the SS, do you feel the extra performance was worth the price delta? Is the SS handling that much better than your v6? Thanks again. Everyone's responses have been great. |

Mbar, I've given some serious thought to a Club NC Miata or a lightly used Fiesta ST. However, the more I see the 6th gen in person, the less I think about the Miata or Fiesta. I do have to ask what is a "vert." I can't say I'm up on that term. Maybe it was a typo. But, I'm not a muscle/sports car guy. thx.

Other than the obvious Mustang, I believe it is fair to, or at least cross shop, the BMW 2 series since they are in the same ball park price-wise. The 228i is equivalent in speed, interior dimensions, and other features for the same price as a V6 Camaro. The M235 is nearly equivalent to an SS model in those same qualities: speed, interior, and other features. However, the Camaro has both beat when you start comparing feature for feature (except for better back seat and trunk space in the 2). Just offering a reasonable apples to apples comparison.

It looks to me like the Porsche owners think the Porsche is the much better car and the Camaro owners believe the Camaro is the better car.
I wonder why that is???

it is a Hyundai, which was a throw-away car for a long time. They've made some changes and produce a decent car now.
