It doesn't really matter when the ZL1 comes out. The reality is the only engine GM has left is the LT4, so it kind of narrows the performance window down.

The GT500 came out in 2007.

Yes, I know that. I was referring to Camaro 5. I guess I could have called it a 2012-2015 ZL1

Hopefully Ford does what they did last time and announces the GT500 soon after the ZL1. Hopefully with a TT 5.0 producing over 700 HP.

"Gen 5", and "Gen 6" are universally understood for the generations around here.

The ZL1 won't make more than the Z06. It doesn't matter the GT500 and Hellcat make.

A 640 HP ZL1 that weighs 600 lbs less than a 707 HP Hellcat will have a much better HP:Weight ratio and at the end of the day will dominate the hellcat with equal drivers.

Should be a very interesting day.
The issue is not the Hellcat. That car is already out. The issue is the next GT500. It won't weight 4500 lbs and it won't be on 275 tires.

I believe that you are wanting a NA engine for Z28...right? On that, I think it is quite possible they start with a ZL1 and add a "Track Pack" and call it Z28 ala GT350 to GT350R. This becuase we don't know of an NA engine that would go in it - now if they are developing an NA, then that would truly be awesome for the next Z28 - I'm just not sure if the last Z28 was a sales success, if not, they may not want to put the coin into developing it outside of what I've described.

IDK...just thinking on keyboard.
I is the Z/28 should be an n/a, track focused car or nothing at all.

The Z/28 and Z28 badge has been screwed with enough over it's lifetime. If they can't build a Z/28, then leave it alone. The previous ZL1 didn't come with a track pack, so I don't see this one coming with a track pack either.

How is the GT500 an issue? Competition is what makes these cars better and keeps the prices down. The hellcat is a great car except for the 275 tires and will compete very nicely against the ZL1 (in a straight line) especially from a roll. If the GT500 comes out I'm sure it will beat the Camaro in some performance metrics (especially straights if it comes with an automatic), but I don't care, as long as these high performance cars keep getting manufactured I'm happy.

That's an interesting, but possible scenario. Maybe delete some of the weight heavy creature comforts and rear seats. It wouldn't even be a fair contest to pit such a machine against the gt350r

The next ZL1 with start in the $60's is my guess, guessing around $70K loaded.
