It drove a little mushier than the Camaro or Mustang but not bad at all. The reporters just like to gripe about stuff.
Mmm...I dunno about that. Maybe the base models all felt similar. But as you elevate to performance models in each vehicle line, the Challenger really starts to feel like a tub compared to say, the Boss LS, or SS/1LE.

That may be where more of those comments are coming from on that front.

Interstingly, a teen learned to drive in my 1LE. (full disclosure, I'm a teacher by profession) I find that younger drivers (who aren't PITAs), are more adaptable to different situations, and responsive to instruction. The visibility of the Camaro was different for him, but certainly not a barrier to good driving. In fact, it taught him the importance of knowing where your corners are, good straight parking, and not creeping too far forward at traffic lights.

I think that's the reason so many people like to complain about the visibility...they're adults and just used to pickups, or camrys with 3x the glass...and too stubborn, or unwilling to accept the trade-off for the styling of the vehicle. "Can't teach an old dog new tricks" sort of thing? My .02, anyways....

I am just an over protective parent, lol (maybe if I had a boy it would be different), if I could put my teenage daughter in an armored tank, I would

Usual stuff of one cannot drive if having an issue. I just do not like the bunker (slot) view out the side windows.

How it was:

Haha I feel your pain as well, 6'4" but when I test drove it, it was kind of a big difference from going immediately from a 2007 Acura TL to the Camaro, but I think once mine comes in I will get used to it and it shouldn't be a problem. I do have a question though. For you does the seat go down low enough for you to still be able to see well? I got mine with a sunroof and didn't know if that compromised head room.

The visibility is the result of a styling choice, period.

The visibility is better out the front

Worse out the side

Dramatically worse out the back and rear quarters.

I just got to drive a Gen6 yesterday, and I wasn't totally comfortable navigating it around downtown Portland traffic. The performance was great, it's very well balanced and very powerful, but it isn't a confidence inspiring car when it comes to being in a congested environment.

Oh and if I had a choice of which car to be in a serious traffic collision or road incident...I would NOT want to be in the 67 Camaro pictured above. An accident that would likely result in minor injuries (but a totaled car) in a Gen 6 would likely be a fatal accident in the Gen 1

Finished second week in new car. I like it. No issues with visibility -except- the back and to the right (rear quarter). It doesn't happen very often, but when it does it's a major pain.

Most recent event I can think of was when stopped in a lane and trying to move to the right. Oddly, it's easier if the cars in the right lane are moving. If they're stopped, or moving slowly, it's touchy. Especially if someone is trying to let you in. They may be in a position that doesn't easily let you see they're trying to.

The visibility is not "bad"... uniformly. It's fine for most situations and very bad for a few others.

After having 3 5th Gens, I have no issues but I have to say the blind side indicators are more helpful than I would have guessed.
You guys got it all right! My 2 5th gens were different, but not impossible to adjust to.

I posted this in another thread, but if you've ever tried to look out the rear view mirror in a Lamborghini or Ferrari, you would know what difficult is...funny, no one complains about rear visibility in those two cars...lol.

Coming from an E46 BMW 330i, visibility is obviously compromised but doesn't really bother me. I'm not used to the larger size of the car yet and the corners are harder to figure out, which means I take wider turns, but it's not a huge deal. There are far more awesome things to think about while driving.

The relatively more challenging visibility actually makes me a more cautious driver, which is for the better.

Yup. At least on the 2LT. You have to enable the option, I don't think it's on by default.

That's why I'm trading my SS for a minivan today.... Stupid visibility! Or maybe not. Never had an issue with our fifth gens or this one. Not one complaint from my wife or son either.
