Given the widespread notion of visibility issues, I think Chevy should make the blind spot detection standard across all models and not just the 2ss.

Better visibility. I've read every review in the first 4 pages of google search results. They all gush over the car except for the visibility. So fix it. The "style / function" tradeoff went too far to "style". Move it back a a bit, and you'd get perfect reviews.
It could be fixed...if people would learn how to adjust their mirrors properly.

No, sorry. You guys keep thinking mirrors and backup cameras FIX poor visibility. They don't. They help you get used or make up for what is inherently missing.

If what you suggest were the case, you could just eliminate the quarter windows and backlight all together and from your perspective the visibility would still be good, right? Just adjust those mirrors and visibility is perfect.

Ummm, you can always raise the seat a little. The visibility is just fine, as is the styling & functionality. Adjust the mirrors so youre not staring at the sides of your car and it'll all be fine.

Let's take a break from arguing about visibility. Here are a few things I'd like to see in the 2017 model year.

First, here are some things that I think are completely reasonable:

1. Black leather knee pads and upper door armrests standard across all trims --> I don't think this would be all that expensive and I think it would make the 1LT and 1SS Trims much more desirable. I'm not a huge fan of the ugly, cheap feeling plastic you get there otherwise. I know you can order knee pads on all trims, but not black leather ones, and there is no option to replace the rest on the top of the door.

2. More spoiler options for the SS --> Personally, I don't hate the wing spoiler that is currently on the SS. I don't even think that the blade is necessarily better. I just think that the choice should be there without customers having to order the blade spoiler as an LPO item, and either get a new decklid or have to fill holes on their current one.

Next, here is something I think could happen, but I don't count on it, as it isn't all that life-changing.

3. Change up trim specific packages and standard equipment --> Perhaps make HUD available as an option on lower trims, change the standard technology and screens on the LT models, etc.

And finally, something I don't expect to happen at all, but I think would be cool.

4. Rename the LT trim RS --> As it stands (and as most of you know), RS is a package. However, at this point, I think making the RS equipment standard would make the car much more appealing. The only exceptions to this should be the wheels and the spoiler. Some people probably only want/need 18 inch wheels, and some probably like the spoiler-less look (maybe have the spoiler come standard and offer a spoiler delete option). Otherwise, the headlights, taillights, badging, etc. could all come standard. Another reason I see for this, other than desirability, is it would eliminate some confusion. Many people seem to think that RS is a trim right now, as opposed to a package that can be applied to the LT (or in the case of the 5th gen, SS) trim. Renaming LT to RS would make it less perplexing for a lot of people. Finally, I think eliminating the LT name in favour of RS would really set the Camaro apart as a truly special vehicle in Chevy's lineup. They already eliminated the LS trim to show that there is no "base Camaro" of cheapie version, and I think that this would just take that one step further.

What does everyone else think? Would love some feedback on the idea.

Cheers,

Nick.

I agree about making RS standard. Notice how none of the publicity shots show an LT without the RS package?

I agree with making LED taillights and HID headlights standard. Mustang has already gone this route. I think it would have been awesome if the front signal lights could have been integrated as part of the "eyeliner" led lights under the headlights to where they would blink amber when activated and then back to solid white (like some audis).

1) Unfortunately, thats just part of the upsell

2) The 3 piece blade is already an option, there are just some issues with ordering it due to the holes from the stanchion dont line up. This is more an issue on GM's end and will be sorted out (hopefully) soon

3) I expect to see a "technology" package available next year that includes more of the 2XX features (but not all of them) including the HUD, now that it is available on the 1LE AND the 2XX models

4) Thats a BIG part of the upsell "oh you dont like this garrish front end? thatll be $2500 (or whatever the dollar figure is)

1) Not sure if as many people care about it as much as I do, but I get what you're saying.

2) I know it's an option, but it's an LPO option, not a factory installed one. If it were factory, then that would eliminate the issue with the holes that we both mentioned.

3) Yeah, I tend to agree.

4) They could just raise the price of the car a little bit to cover the RS parts. This is no longer really a budget sports car, I don't think any part of it deserves the budget treatment. Not to say that they should make it unreasonably expensive (IE, more than it should be), but people really shouldn't complain about having to pay for a nice thing.

My order sheet lists option code 5ZU and the dealer was contacted when Chevy was reviewing it for production. The code is incomplete so they asked if I wanted to wait or go with the stanchion. I'm waiting.

The 5ZU code exists for the SS. It needs to be completed to provide the RS deck so dealer can install the spoiler. Given the blade is on the 1LE it's going to come down to do they want it easily available to SS buyer.

The attached is from my workbench order sheet.

They could raise it by the cost of the RS option, but they leave it off for the low price war.
