Ever looked out the back of a 38 Chevy or 71-73 Mustang Mach 1? Or try driving a 70s custom van. All were a sinch once you knew how to drive them.

My wish list is for people to stop complaining about visibility issues. Get over it. It's not that bad.

When mirrors adjust properly (not to see behind you, but to the side of you) I never once had a problem in my 5th gen, and while I don't have a lot of miles in my 6th...it is no different. Forward visibility is a little better. No, its not regular passenger car like visibility either....it just isn't and it doesn't need to be. By the way...I assume the majority know this, but I still see it come up....anyone waiting for an improvement in visibility before you purchase, please realize that visibility changes of any significance require major changes....like new generation changes. Its not something that can be tweaked from one year to the next in a current generation of car. So go try it out and see what you think, or go buy something else. This generation isn't getting any better in the visibility department.

I love the comments about focus groups and visibility. If they did a rendering of the car with a slightly higher roofline and asked the group if they would not buy it as a result...

a) When I sat in the car, I had to bring the seat up to a level that I could see the front. By then my head was about 2 inched away from the roof. This is very dangerous, because in a small bump, the top of your head can hit the roof and does major injury to spinal. It's like you're sitting and someone hit you over the head. Can cause nerve or neck injury. b) If you are at the traffic light and you're the first one, with the low roof line and angle of front windshield you won't be able too see the traffic light. I've been driving cars since 1976 and I know when a car is right or or not when I seat behind the wheel, and I'm shocked to see a company like GM designed this car like this. |

I've had situations in both my GTO and my wife's 2015 Mustang where due to my proximity to a traffic signal, I've had to lean forward in my seat to see the light.

Ageed, that due to swoopy styling some visibility will suffer. But the newest Mustang is very attractive and even striking in some colors and the visibility in the Mustang is at least 50% better over all from the front and the sides. All these pony/muscle/sports cars have awful rear quarter/rear visibility. It comes with the territory.
If you want to take long trips with the Camaro where scenery is memorable then the trip will suffer to some degree in the new Camaro. Camaro parity with the Mustang at least could have been achieved by raising the roof and inch rather that lowering it. But Chevy was trying to hold on to the base while attracting new buyers. And parts of the base are a fickle bunch. Remember the 2014 taillight silly rants? Do we buy these cars for the tail lights? Anyway Chevy added the turbo 4 (the future Camaro performace engine BTW) and pumped up the performance of the V6 cars along with the new V6 1LE. They also made the SS a much better all around performance car. You cannot buy an SS that will not run close to a 5g ZL1 in in a straight line and run close to a 5g 1LE on a race track. Magazines are now calling the new Camaro a "sports car". I never thought I would see the day. We will see how this all plays out. Some people who are sensitive to confined spaces would never buy the new Camaro since like the 5g Camaro they both make you feel like you are riding in a tank. But for most people they can get used to to it. For me I will live with this disappointment to experience driving this new Chevy sports car. And between the the 4g and 5g Camaros this will be my fourth one. If I want to take a trip and just enjoy the scenery I will take my wife's RAV4. Being the V6 AWD model it actually borders on a sporty shooting brake with great visibility. But I wonder if I will want to miss the driving experince of the Camaro.

Ohhhh you defenders of poor visibility.
It is awesome you don't have a problem with it. It really is. But please stop assuming that because it's not a problem for you that it isn't a problem for others. That's just not the case. It's a logic path a lot of people fall into. "I don't find it a problem so it can't be a problem". Then a few of you go on here trying to criticize PEOPLE that think it is an issue. This isn't a personal issue, it's a fact of the car. Think of it this way, it's very similar to the audio performance. For many and most, the Bose system is an awesome upgrade. For others, it sucks and hurts their ears. BUT they can upgrade the audio system to their liking or at least improve it significantly. Guys I was there when they screwed up the ATS pulling the same high belt, slammed roof. If you get in an ATS and then a 3 Series, you'll see the difference. GM has made specific choices in this area and not just on the Camaro. Styling wins right now. And it's cool that so many on here love the styling of the Gen6. But it is just going to limit the appeal, even if only a little bit. So can we just agree that the visibility is poor and could have been better and GM chose not to do so to protect the BA styling of the car and that a ton of people on this site don't find it to be a problem, but some people will and stop bickering?
