Leaking Coolant

I came home from work tonight and parked the Camaro in the garage, wife and I went out in her car for a couple of hours, came back and I noticed something wet running from under my Camaro all the way out to the driveway. As soon as I got closer I could smell the anti freeze. Not sure where it coming from but I guess Dealership will have to tow it in to check it out. I didn't notice any problems coming home from work. Going to call in the morning.

I'd check the hose connections first, might be something as simple as a lose clamp or hose.

This is why I'm waiting. I played this game in 2010 with my first 5th gen. Good luck! Hopefully simple problem. Keep us posted.

Got the car in the shop this morning, and they found a hole, in the axillary radiator. Then they said it was caused by a rock. So there goes any warranty. $800.00 to fix. Told them to keep the part so I can look at it and see if this is even possible for a rock to do this.

Where is this radiator? Is that the thing with the vents on the bottom front?

Also: I just got a $6500 repair estimate on a '06 mustang (that only bluebooks for $3500) telling me I need a new engine. Took it to an independent mechanic and all it needed was the 100k mile tune up. Runs fine now.

I think any non-warrantee repairs like the $800 rock hole I'd take elsewhere, just because if I have to pay for it I damn sure don't trust dealership service centers.

I'd tell them to EAD. Where you driving off road and scraped a rock?

No driving off road, in fact, I didn't even hear anything on my way home. I questioned the service advisor how do you know it was a rock? He told me there was a hole is this radiator. So I have no choice in the matter seeing I need my car. I can claim this on my insurance, minus my deductible... Also I told him to box up this damaged part so I can see it. Even mentioned having it repaired at a radiator shop. He told me it would void my warranty. Apparently this Camaro has 3 radiators, the one in the middle, and two on the sides. Here is a post that talks about them: http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=415736

How would having it repaired at a radiator shop void your warranty?

No way would i pay for that without proof. A good dealer would warranty that.

How is this not covered? Do they expect you to buy the car and never drive it or only drive it on clouds or something? I wonder if you could get it to another dealership to get a second opinion?

If the dealer diagnosed the issue correctly, it's not a warranty issue. It's a collision with another object which is what insurance covers, not a manufacturers warranty as it is not a defect.

Again, this is only based on the diagnosis in this thread and if that turns out to be the correct diagnosis. I have a fog light out on my Q60S with 5,000 miles on it and it was because of a rock or wheel weight. I don't expect Infiniti to pay for that. Same as a rock putting a hole in the radiator.

Did they show it to you? How did the rock hit it? Just jumped off the road?

Yes, this is how it is as of now. After doing some research on rocks/ road debris damage on vehicle radiators, it seems it is a common problem. As Eric stated since the road debris or rock has caused the damage, my insurance will flip the bill, not a defective part. But the question is how do you prove it was road debris. The only way is to see the damaged part which I will after all the work has been completed. Seems to me there might be an aftermarket rock guard made for this Camaro. Just a thought.
