Never driven the M6 but my last car was stick. I went A8 because I just wanted the fastest camaro i could get. Iv'e enjoyed the auto very much but I wouldn't doubt the M6 and think it would be just as fun. If it wasn't a DD and i planned on tracking the car a lot I would have gone with the M6.

Just to test things out, I plan on grabbing stock oem bushings then sending them to ZIP Corvettes and they will be making me a their polyurethane shifter bushings. While I do not find it absolutely NEEDED as the stock shifter and bushings are pretty great, I still want to test things out.

I came to this tread looking to get an answer for my dilemma. I want it white and manual, but I found one white auto and one red manual both 1SS with NPP. I dont need any other option than the LT1 with NPP, so I belive the red manual will be the best for me.

I switched from C6 M6 to a C6 A6 and heated the A6 feeling and lag, but I understand the A8 is more responsive and made me doubt.

But I dont want to make the same mistake, so I think will put the manual transmission over the my color preference.

This exactly!!!! 1-2 shift is super hard to time the throttle and clutch together for a smooth transition. I found that I almost need like 0 gas compression to make it smooth, when I use the same gas pedal compression on every other gear its smooth as silk, on the 1-2 it just isnt smooth.

If the radio is blasting, forget about it. 1-2 is full concentration. lol

However, aside from the MPG I get on my v6 m6 which I drive all city, I love the car. Best Camaro I have owned outta 3. 89 Iroc-z, 02 Z28

Ignoring the auto vs manual debate.

I've initially found the manual for the v6 to be notchy with an indirect feel. My gen 4 z28's shifters were far better.

I know a lot of people have been singing the praises even with the v6. But, I've found it to be clunky.

Over the past 600 miles the feel has dramatically improved with my shifter. It is getting softer and smoother. Felt notchy at the beginning and I felt as if I had to force the shifts initially.

Im hoping the shifter continues to improve. The throw length is good and the tree progression is obvious. I haven't attempted to shift in anger yet..... Perhaps after break in I can break the shifter in properly and report improvements.

There's no way this thread was going to be anything but an auto vs manual debate. So far it's one of the nicest ones I've ever seen.

New Manuals are usually a little tight.. New performance Transmissions like these can be flat out notchy, it's just a matter of what you're used to.
1st to 2nd in my 1LE is downright bitchy right now, but as you stated, it's getting better as the transmission breaks in.
Even with the "fill for life" transmissions though, many people are reporting that a fluid change to synchromax or royal purple turns it into a whole different machine. That is after break in of course..
I'm planning on doing a fluid change around 5000 miles, can't hurt and if it helps.. great!

I don't know what the shifter pivot and bushings look like on the Gen6, but the "improved" GMPP short throw that supposedly came on the 1LE was a piece of crap. It got replaced immediately with something much better.

LOL, you don't just get it do you.... The very small fraction of time we are drag racing side by side, yes, you can beat me by a few hundreds of a second. But even in that time I will be having more fun than just standing on the gas and then letting off at the end. AND the big thing is that the other 99.99999 percentage of the time we are driving on the street side by side I will be getting a whole lot more enjoyment out of the driving experience. That sure outweighs the fact that you are faster a small fraction of 1% of the time. If my only two choices were the 6 cylinder 6 speed or V8 automatic, which is seconds different in time on the drag strip, I would pick the 6 cylinder M6 every time. Not racing here, just want to get from point A to point B with the most amount of driving enjoyment. I don't buy a camaro for competition, I build and drive real race cars for that. From go karts, sprint cars, stock cars, open wheel modifieds and more in my racing history winning my share of races and track championships. I buy a Camaro to totally enjoy a muscle car on the street in my every day driving to its fullest and sure can't do that with an automatic. At 66 years old I am far too young to be driving an automatic muscle or sports car.

Nope. I DD my M6. I enjoy the drive, the exhaust, the ability to disengage TCS and TC and go everywhere sideways.

It's just more fun that way. I don't care what every one else has, buys or thinks. My car, my fun.

Good call. I have ZIP's bushings on my C7 M7 and was very impressed with the difference they made.
