I really don't care about the speedo/tach looks... as long as they are easy to read. It is interesting that the 20mph increments from 0-100 have a wider spacing than 100-200. I can't think of a single gauge cluster that is still backlit with the headlights off (that isn't 100% screen for all dials). Do you have an example? --kC |

Many new cars are. the dials appear black until the car is on. My wife's 04 accord is this way. Which is often the reason you see so many people driving with their lights off at night. The gauges look the same night and day and they cannot tell they don't have their lights off with city lights and traffic

I think the grainy out of focus cell phone pics make it worse than it really is. Add to that the fact it is focused directly on the gauges doesn't help. You can single out a piece of every car and find fault in it if you look closely enough, yet the sum of the parts works well. The analog gauges are not intended to be the main focus of the cluster so they are probably intentionally somewhat plain. To make them "pretty" alongside an 8" screen would make many say there is too much going on in the cluster. Sometimes subtle is better. Funny how no one complained until these photos...

Honestly the gauges need a aluminum bezel or something around them, but I agree with newb they probably didn't want to take away from the center 8" which will give the same info.

Smart decision on GM's part - use most of the gauge real estate to give you the readout precision you need at the speeds required to keep your license.

I love it! So much better than my gauge cluster I never even look at. Sometimes I forgot I have a gauge cluster.
Can't wait to see the HUD

I've been trying to find the video somewhere where it shows the hud for a few seconds... Maybe someone has it bookmarked? It's the same hud as the gen 5's if I am not mistaken. At least it looked the same, it could be upgraded to the c7 vette ones where you see the nav on it. Don't quote me, i said "could" be lol.

It's not just you. And it's not just the Camaro.
All the gauges in all the new Chevys look like the gauges from late '70s Chevys.
