While I would NEVER make the snide "should had gotten the V8 comment", lets not fool ourselves. Power is what these cars are about. Every angle if this car(along with the Stang/Charger/etc...) is trying to instill a feeling of power, "muscle", American Badass-ness. I for one, am a proponent of walking the walk. That being said, I would never, PERSONALLY, own one that was any less than an SS. There are plenty of badass looking cars out there that have V6/I4s. However, that is NOT where the Camaro's reputation lies.
I will also, wholeheartedly disagree with not being able to use the V8s power, aside from the track. I have, do, and will. Along with many others here.
Fact is, given the opportunity, most everyone would opt for the V8 if they could. But I dont blame anyone who cant swing it. Hell, we are talking a $45k Camaro! That is nutts. At this rate, I wont be aboe to afford a V8 much longer either.
Dont belittle people for buying a lower trim. In doing so, they present the same enthusiasm as us who opted higher, probably more enthusiasm. They put up with the smack talk and STILL proudly represent.

Damn it's already happening. It's not V8 or nothing!

The V6 is a 0-60 5 second car! And it tops 100mph in the 1/4. Last I checked that is a fast car.

To the op. Congratulations. The camaro is a sports car! Plain and simple. There will always be "that guy" who say's "you shoulda got the v8". Or, "too bad it's not a zl1.". Don't let these idiots sway you decision or purchase. Buy the car that fits your needs, finances, and purposes. A 335 hp V6 is the sweet spot for me..... I have no intentions of being a street light racer chasing down 5.0 mustangs, or playing with the fast and furious crowd.

It's all about getting a sweet looking sports car that suits your needs.

One last point:
The Miata has been in production for +/- 20 years. Puny 4 cyl rear wheel drive car that holds no pretensions about being the fastest car. It's all about the fun factor.

Op:
This car is going to be amazing. The weight and power is going to lend itself to a very responsive car. Exhilarating acceleration. And, sports car handling with a stiff chassis and independent suspension. 100% guarantee that you will have a smile on your face irregardless of the engine!

My V6 car is going to cost the same as a 1SS.

Different strokes for different folks. I'd rather have leather and the electronics than a bare bones V8. I can afford a 2SS but, I see no reason to spend that much money on a depreciating asset.

Yet at the same time there are a lot of other factors one must consider. Fuel, insurance, maintenance, and the ancillaries.

Well if we were talkin about the fifth gen than yeah it would be a big difference when we're talking about the car but hey lets not forget that this one is much lighter and more powerful. This v6 won't compete with just v6s anymore;this beast can beat the RT and other badass imports.i wouldn't mind buying a v6(only if it comes with a good custom exhaust)LOL.

I Have to take a further look into my finances. It might be do-able.
I have a small commute to work.
Trans Damm, It's pretty simple, If I can afford I'll get the V8. If I can't afford it, I won't.
The 455 h.p. and 455 torque for the V8 is impressive. But again, it all comes at a cost. Yes, it's worth it. I have never heard of anyone regretting getting a V8. But, in reality, one will never be able to exercise all that raw power on the open roads or highways except for taking it to the track. I'm just excited that I finally made up my mind to follow thru with getting a Camaro. No matter what trim level OR engine it is.

I would also look into the cost of insurance between the 2. If you are young the difference might be a lot. Get what you want the V6 is a great ride and G6 V6 is even going to be better.

We still get compliments on ours even after having it for 5 years!

So true... That's the whole point of having different models/trims available. Respect another Camaro fan's choice and just enjoy the car in general

On the topic of V6 vs. V8....There will also be the ones who turn up their noses to those who keep their car stock even if you get a top of the line SS. There is always someone who thinks he is the "bigger fish."
