seriously, not to offer a LSD for the sub-SS Automatic buyers is not that big of a cost measure .... buy in bulk it probably would cost GM $200 a pop, if that ..... it should have been offered ....

If you don't do something close to this then you obviously don't care about performance.
That's hilarious!

The 2016 Camaro SS seems to be impressive no doubt ....not everyone wants to drive a stick and who wants a sporty car with an open rear ....just my.02 cents .....
The Camaro has to appeal to a broad audience so us enthusiasts get all the fun we want. Have to make the balance sheet work on this car for GM. Not everyone wants a car that can rip it. So why should they pay extra for stuff they don't need and aren't going to use? The automatic V6 and T-4 are going to be fun enough to drive for those who want to spend what they're going to cost. If they want LSD they can either opt for the manual or go to the SS automatic.

I'd say most of the people - the VAST majority - who buy a T-4 or V6 automatic are NOT going to be looking to rip it up.

more complexity/variation in the assembly process etc.
Very little if any at all since they are all built on the same line. Plus with so many already in stock for the stick cars and ss' it won't be a supply issue. Besides adding on options always comes with a higher price tag so the customer will pay for it.

Ok...so why isnt it offered if its all win win?

Simple logic would disagree.

Even on the same line these have to be installed. It still adds complexity to the process. Nothing is free.

but whatever...im not getting one.

SS for me.

To do this you assume the following:

Every car gets it to have any kind of volume...........even for the majority of I4 and V6 customer that honestly do not and will not care.

And you assume that if it costs $200 that GM will only charge $200 for it. There is a markup for the testing, development and design that goes into every part. Oh, yeah, and profit. Need that profit thing. So the base car goes up another 4 or 500. And now we have a much more expensive base car with a feature very few would buy.

So could they have? Yes. But I'll bet you the same people that gave us a great SS also knew that the added cost and development weren't necessary for the I4, V6 buyers.

You are falling into that trap that because YOU would want one, EVERYONE ELSE would obviously want one too.

So this is only why a feature is not available. Keep the discussion to that. But to question GM's dedication to performance because that feature isn't available on the car with an I4 or V6 is a bashing GM does not deserve here.

Does anyone know what other vehicles have the same differential as in the A8 T4/V6?
