So if they say the 6th gen weighs XXX less & it isn't, I can't see how it would be anything other than a lie.

I'd also like to see the full quotes (ie, context) where GM said, or implied, that pricing would be matching the Mustang. Because if it included wording like 'comparably equipped' or similar, then the reference point should not be a bare bones, no option GT.

No, he is a moderator on another car forum (GM Inside News) but they don't have any affiliation with GM. I'm not entirely sure what he does for a living down in Florida (moderating rarely pays much ... if anything), but I don't think it has anything to do with GM. He is merely an enthusiast just like everyone else (well ... maybe not just like everyone else).

As for his points ... stating facts isn't the same as bad mouthing. Is the 6th gen more powerful than the 5th? Yes. Is it better equipped? Yes. Is the 5th gen overweight? Just about everyone agrees that it is. In fact, that has been one of the 2 biggest complaints about the car for the last 7 years (the other being its visibility), so its not exactly a ground breaking revelation.

Now, did he ever say that it was a bad car? No. Just that the 6th gen is better in several ways, hence the price increase.
Fair enough, then I guess they would be lying.

It's been a while since I read that quote so I'll have to track it down again.

Man, I never would have guessed there would be this much hoopla about the Camaro price compared to Mustang prices...

I look at what you get for the money on this Camaro versus what you could get on the 5th Gen, and I think, after the dust settles, it is a more than reasonable price for all the improvements over the 5thGen....

In this economy I'm not surprised that people are taken back by the price increase. We all expected it to go up but just not as much as it did. Like i said, when you take it into perspective, the standard equipment and performance will be worth it but many people don't care about that and would much rather have something that looks good and sounds good and goes fast. The added stuff may not ring everyones bell and I just hope these prices don't deter a large portion of people who were seriously considering the camaro.

This pricing may warrant a sales increase in the 2015s left on the lots. People may start snatching them up. Especially if they don't want to spend almost 27k on a base model!

With the way some STEALERships hike the prices up, I know for a fact every 2016 Camaro within a minimum of a 4 hour traveling distance around me will put the base model cars at 31.6k, and a 1SS will start at 42.2k... CROOKS!!!

I've actually been debating picking up a 5th gen at the end of my lease (November 1)but for me I'm not sure i want to get into the same car. Granted I probably won't be able to get into a 6th gen anyways due to the fact that they won't be in dealerships by then and I haven't factory ordered one yet.

I think the pricing is a bit a disappointing, but considering that an SS comes standard with the RS package and Magnetic Ride Control, both ~$1350 and ~$1725 respectively, the increase in price isn't all that much.

MRC isn't standard

I'm happy, I just wanted a 2SS with all I want for under $50,000.

$46380 for 2ss, mag ride, auto, adjustable exhaust. That's $3600 off a base gt350. I'm disappointed. Hope performance numbers are much better or I might be getting something else.

I completely agree with you. From what I see it will be worth the money. Remember, the Gen 5 Camaro will outperform the new mustange gt on a track. This new GEN 6 SS will have near Gen 5 ZL1 capability.

I doubt that, I guess if Bill Clinton said,'what is the definition of near?' ZL1 has 585 HP, MRC, big brakes/rims/aggressive tires, aero, but weighs a few hundred pounds more, yep Also about the same as a GT-500

Let's just say a 2ss is a low 12 sec car, equal to a 1le on the track, plus all the tech and comfort stuff for around $43k can anyone name a car that is similarly equipped and better performing for the same price?

If it's faster than the Scat Pack in the 1/4 mile, if it's over 200 lbs lighter in V8 form and faster than the 1LE around a track, I will retract my statement about it being over priced.

GM never said anything about being cheaper or same price as the mustang. GM only said we would be pleased with the pricing and close to the mustang. I'm very pleased with it considering that it comes with more standard features than last gen. How could anybody expect gm to sell a overall better more refined car for less that's just not logical to me. Plus this will be the cheapest car in GM line up with MRC, just look at how much the ZL1 cost for example. We get close to Zl1 performance but missing like 120hp for 17k cheaper plus 200 to 250lb lighter package I see that as a win for us Camaro lovers. I can see a 2SS with MRC and a good power to weight ratio giving a ZL1 run for it's money IMO.
