Anyway, I can probably guarantee that there won't be a high performance AWD Camaro ever. If GM wants to, they can offer something else to fill that niche, but its not going to be a Camaro. Now, as for a 'low performance' AWD for dealing with snow/ice ... for 99% of buyers you're better off to just buy snow tires & you'll be paying less money for more benefit. But no matter how often that gets said, people still equate awd with OMGWTFBBQ-levels of awesomeness for winter driving.

Is the weight penalty for a transfer case and differential that is strong enough to handle the 455lb-ft worth it for a couple of tenths in 0-60 and not much else? |

Hell yes! This is the only way to put the power to the ground effectively. All the successful car companies are integrating this into their high powered options. AMG, next gen M cars, Audi... How about a ZL-1 GT-R killer!!!

Look I'm not trying to be a jerk but the The 1st Gen and the 6th Gen are so far apart from each other that if they were aircraft. The 1st Gen would be a WWII F6F-5 Hellcat and the 6th Gen would be a F-22 Raptor. The only similarities that those two planes share is the ability to fly. (and rain death from above) I would not worry about the Camaro going 4 door, because people will do that on their own. Just search for image of the stretch limo 5th gen.

Why would a AWD Camaro not be able to do a burnout? Try searching youtube for "GTR Burnouts".

Well, besides the fact that I just think a Camaro should only be RWD, the above observations also concern me a lot. I don't even want to see an AWD option available on the Camaro because there is no doubt it will drive up production costs over the entire Camaro line.

I think that is an excellent idea.
An AWD ZL1 with 580 (or more hp) would rape the Hellcat at the strip! Guys, the GTR could be dethroned by a Camaro with an American V8 and 1/2 the price tag! I think this would be about the only thing that would get me to trade my ZL1 for a Gen 6... |

You think adding AWD capability to the 6th gen wouldn't cause an increase in weight?

Actually, no I didn't so thanks for letting me know. Doesn't matter to me though as I'm pretty sure such polls and comments have "the ear" of GM marketing gurus.
