Hi, guys, I posted an explanation of how you can add in a manual switch to control the opening / closing of the exhaust bypass valves. It adds a bit of flexibility to merely pulling the fuse in that you can open the valves up to enjoy the music you dearly love coming from those exhaust pipes and you can close the valves (actually return them to ECU control) to quiet things down when you are sneaking home from a late date.
The instructions for wiring in the manual switch is reply #17 and some additional detail on reply #19. Here is the link to that thread .... http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...47#post8274347 Regards, Steve |

Read the instructions in bed this morning, then went out and pulled it right away. Never had to reference the instructions once during the process. Took maybe 15min. It's very easy. Definitely a huge difference in sound when going through the 2000-4000rpm range. Sounds really good! Great mod for someone who doesn't want a loud aftermarket exhaust, but would like something better than stock. As far as people saying they've noticed more power or that it rides smoother, I honestly can't tell a difference. Also, I've seen a lot of people that don't know if they have the system on their car or not. All you have do is look into your exhaust tips. If you see a flap on the inside of the outside tips, you have it. If you don't see flaps, you don't have it. Also, the flaps should be open when the car is off or idling, as shown below. This is off my 2013 ZL1.

So just pull the fuse and not the relay? Or pull both?

Yes, no problem, you can just pull the fuse on any NPP equipped Gen5 Camaro. This will fully disable the actuation of the exhaust bypass valves in your mufflers and they will be open at all times ...
I recommend you pull the fuse and see how you like it always open. This is obviously very inexpensive and will only take about 15 minutes of your time to get access to the fuse block. Drive the car a while at different speeds and in different situation and try to get feedback from others on the noise level. If you ever wish to have the ability to manually open and close the valves without resorting to pulling or inserting the fuse back into the fuse block, you will need to get a controller to perform the manual override. Using a controller, you can open or close the valves at will. I recommend you look at the Forza controller to do this ... there are two models: Best regards, Steve |
