Ya it's interesting to see how the Z/28 compares to the porsche and GT-R and all but that's the race I wanna see! Love the good ole Chevy vs. Ford clashes.

I agree, they already did that with the GT500. In order for it to compete with the ZL1, you had to option it out with all the extras for track use and the price ended up around $65K ...

Yea this is where I see this going, a 1LE base model with the fully loaded / stripped rivaling the Z/28 but clocking in around the same price. The new GT500 is a bad car though out the box, I think the ZL is quite inferior to that platform, but competition is great; be nice to see Dodge reply with something other than over priced, ECU crippled cars...

Don't forget to mention road and track hates camaro. They've had a hard on for ford since I could remember. As much as the price sucks on the z-28 I won't believe ford until I see the final product, if I was a betting man I'm thinking when it's all said and done there will be an extra 15k at least to that bill.

I don't understand why it's track car.

Couldn't agree more. I'm tired of the Camaro vs. Mustang debate. I want to start taking on other competitors. All this is doing is raising the bar for the 6th gen.

great news, more options in the next few years, more reason not to go over the top on Gen 5 mods. If it out performs for same basic $$ I'm there. 50K Aston Martin

I love their 'Competition' category...

"Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE, Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, other Chevrolet Camaros, Dodge Challenger SRT, a used Boss 302."

Of of the names in this list one is in a bit different of a category than the others. It seems like they just tossed Z/28 in there to make sure they named a lot of cars.

I hope they keep the GT350 in the mid 50s similar to the current GT500, and then add options (if they do follow through with a flat plane crank motor at all).

Everyone here is so quick to bash Ford for starting a GT500 under the ZL1, then have it squeak into the 60s with Performance and Track packages. I love it, I didn't need all the "extra shit". A GT350 that makes mid 500s n/a hp with irs, 15" brakes, and a decent tire for 55-56k would be pretty sweet.

Throw CC brakes and extra cooling (maybe not as important being a natural breather as it was for the zl1 and GT500.) And the car could stretch out to high 60s or so.

I think the z28 is neat, but it's not what I want out of a Mustang personally now, or in the foreseeable future.

Should be entertaining all around if they do give chase to the z28.

I think making the carbon brakes as options is the dmart way to go. It keeps "entry" costs down while still allowing the car to be more in line with sanctioned race classes, none of which allow catbon ceramics (if memory serves correctly). Also having decontenting being an option would also help keeping costs down, as taking things out of a car adds cost due to the complications it adds to production.

Either way, $50k is a nice jumping off point for a car of this nature.

I do have to say, GM makes it easy for Ford to up the ante in the horsepower wars. GM builds an engine and that's it for the life of the engine. Ford constantly upgrades their engines for more power.
You can make close to 500 n/a (5.0) already with the Ford Racing Cams, Cobra Jet Intake, and lt's....these dohc motors make gobs of hp when setup right. Besides the Boss is really 450+ not 444.

Want a 10 sec monster get a GT500 and throw a tune on it and tires....get an upgraded pully and full exhaust for high 9 sec qtr miles......it's a beast....pulls so hard, much harder than a stock zr1

You can make an LS7 hit high 700s N/A set up right. Doesn't make smog legal.
