More than likely all extra cost options.

No chance that car will be near 50,000. May be sticker magic 54,000 MSRP but cant get it with out this or that option so starts at 62,000 and then good luck finding one on a lot for less then 65,000 most around 70,000. The Boss 302 was supposed to be 45,000 I think i saw one or 2 in the 4?,000 range but 90 percent were 52,000-58,000 and no wiggle room on price. GT500's were 58,000 to 70,000 depending out what wild stuff a dealer added. 2,000 dollar special coating to protect paint, 1,000 tire warranty, 1,000 under coating all non negotiable.

There's no way it will come in at $50k. A premium GT is near $40k right now. Add in a different engine, carbon ceramic brakes, and better suspension for $10-12k? The brakes alone will cost that much. I'd bet it falls in the $65k range. You can bet they'll price it less than a Z/28. The question is, how much less.

Hmmmmmm, a true Z/28 competitor that forces Chevy to up the ante at a lower price? What's not to love. Bring it! It's on, it's so f'in on.....

Ford gunning for the Z/28?
I'm a sceptic like most of you. If they can match the z28's performance for 25k less, wow! I have a feeling they can't. Specialized engine, brakes, suspension, wheels/tires bring the cost up when not as mass produced so that's why the z28 is so much more than any other camaro. The 350 isn't going to use run of the mill items to match the performance of the z. That's why I'm a sceptic.

I'm going out on a limb here and speculate that the Shelby 350 'base' model will start at $50k and will go up against the 1LE. Slap all the expensive options on it such as the carbon ceramic brakes, the price goes up towards $70k and it starts getting into Z/28 territory.

I'll be impressed if Ford can make a GT Mustang that actually sticks to the ground. That's one of the main reasons I went with the 1le, I didn't like the body movement and slip that all Mustangs seem to have. The power was there I just never felt like it was usable power (at least not for me).
But I love that Camaro and Mustang are competing with one another. That just means we, the customer, win

I would be shocked to see Ford making over 500 HP from a 5 or 5.2 liter Coyote. It took CNC heads, a special intake and all sorts of upgrades to make 444 for the BOSS and it lost peak torque.
I do have to say, GM makes it easy for Ford to up the ante in the horsepower wars. GM builds an engine and that's it for the life of the engine. Ford constantly upgrades their engines for more power. |

I really just want a street legal 1/4 mile monster. Handling is great but power is what impresses most people, myself included. I've never had anyone ask me "how many Gs will it pull?" the question people ask is "How fast is it?"

yeah..one of my friends got stats from Ford engineers at SEMA that said the cars over all weigh the same as they did in prev body styles. Still lighter than this pig of a camaro mind you.
