All Shelby GT500's are built by Ford, on the regular Mustang assembly line. If you look at the "cars" offered by Shelby American on their website, not one of them is called GT500.

You can buy a Shelby GT500 from Ford, and send it to shelby to turn it into a Shelby Supersnake, or a Shelby 1000. You can buy a regular 5.0 Mustang and send to Shelby to have them make it a Shelby GT or Shelby GT/SC

Just a question do the gt500's say ford on them anywhere, or did Shelby have all the legal bs saying they couldn't put there name on them?

I don't think they say Ford anywhere on the exterior. I believe where ever there would be a Ford logo actually has the SVT logo. I think the key fob might have the Ford logo haha.

I am trying to think though, I don't think any mustang now says Ford anywhere on the exterior.

I figured they might say it on the steering wheel but the pics I checked had the cobra emblem.

Interesting, checked the ford website and any time the gt500 is mentioned it is Shelby®Gt500® with no mention of ford or mustang.

My '11 Mustang has no Ford emblems to be found on the exterior, or the interior for that matter (aside from the ignition key/fob). My '06 had them, but only on the center caps of the wheels...

Yea my car/window sticker/title is officially Ford Shelby GT500.

it's the same car as the 93-04 (excluding 02) Cobra from SVT, only with a different name.

To be honest, I'm not sure where my car has a Ford logo....svt/cobra/shelby on the exterior... svt on the door panel and key fob.

So how do you know its a ford? Window stickers have been known to be wrong and DMV workers aren't always the sharpest crayons in the box. Had DMV try to give me two sets of plates and charge me two seperate registrations on one car lol
