While I don't agree with the way they are going about answering these questions. I do think its for a reason. I think they are trying to evolve the way console gaming works and unfortunately the only way to do so is to understand that not every single person is going to be happy with how it has to be done.

Could they make it so the people online can have the huge expansive games and those offline only get partial disc based games? Possibly but there's obviously a bigger picture here that MS has in mind.

They're taking the Apple approach: "What? it gets bad signal if you hold it?.....well then dont hold it dumbass."

I have been a day one purchaser for both the xbox and xbox 360. I live out in the country. The best internet speed available to me is 1.1 Mbps download and only 0.15 Mbps upload. I am concerned that this will not be fast enough for the new xbox one. In addition, I am concernd about the DRM and the three operating systems which may significantly diminish performance and my enjoyment of the system. I guess I might have to forgo the new Killer Instinct game. I am not sure I can justify a purchase of the xbox one.

You may be fine on 1.1 to play. It'll definitely be enough for the "check in". Playing online would be the same idea as 360. You may or may not lag at that speed.

It's the upload that is the problem. 128k is fine for download, however if you're pressing a button and it takes 3 seconds to trigger the animation for the dragon punch, or combo input for games like SF4 and KI, you won't be able to combo, and will miss the ultra 9 times out of 10 against any half decent player. Or with racing games, you may not apex the turn and lose coming down the back straight away because of your upload speed. That's what Camaro-dreamer is concerned about. What's the point of playing online unless you're going to be competitive.

Internet was down here for over 1 month in some areas after IKE as was power.

We played using the generators.

I hate Sony but I may be buying a PS4 this time. First time ever since the PS1 have I chosen a Sony over anything else.

The always on internet thing isn't a big deal. All the X1 has to do is ping the servers to verify your account. They came out and said this morning that if for some reason you lose access to your normal internet connection, all you need to do is connect your mobile phone to your X1 via bluetooth and let the X1 ping your data through the xbox smartglass app once every 24 hours.

Yeah but that has nothing to do with xbox one. He would have the same problems with the PS4.

yea that definitely sucks on the upload and can see that being a problem. Here at work i have 13 download and 5 upload. And at home its double those numbers
