Either you open an email with key logging software that they send you or other social engineering tactics. That is true. But you also have to understand that there are black markets where they trade in personal information. So it doesn't even have to be YOU who slips up. Your bank could slip up, your kid, or brother, or cousin/friend could send you a corrupted email and that's all it takes. If someone decided to take the time to cross reference hacked lists from personal information provided from any number of sources they could cause some real damage. Hell all they would really have to do is cross reference email addresses and if they sync up, well then now they can have a reasonable guess on passwords etc.

I just don't like companies pushing the limit like this. NOT every product needs to be connected to the internet. NOT every product needs a camera. Seriously.

There is no reason why my clothes washer needs to connect to my home network (yes, my washer has this ability. No, it is not activated). At some point people just need to say "here's the line"

and no animus on my side either.

That's my hope. Theres TONS and TONS of people saying hell no to xbox right now. They gotta change their ways before release or they're gonna lose a lot of sale.

Microsoft just said in an official video that if you want to play with no Internet keep your 360...they're shooting themselves in the foot. But I'm still picking up one I've had Xbox since the day it came out and got Xbox live the day it came out. If The Divison wasn't multi platform though I'd probably had gone PS4

Microsoft is stupid.
But that's their fault. Honestly I don't go a day without interest since its used so much in my home so the connectivity isn't an issue.

I'm not exactly happy with a lot of the details with Xbox One either, but the thing is, as I've said, I just have absolutely zero desire to play anything on PlayStation. They would literally have to offer to sell me a PS4 for like...$30 to MAYBE get me to buy one. And even then I'd probably barely use it.

I think Microsoft is definitely going to lose some ground because of all the drama surrounding One, but the console will still sell ridiculously well.

I view it like the W-body to EpII Impala transition. There are some major improvements (overall exterior/interior design, tech and features) and some big downsides (standard 2.5L engine, higher cost than the W-body due to little to no incentives, decreased sales volume from limited fleet sales), but it'll still sell.

Making the Xbox require a connection every 24 hours, will absolutely kill their global sales. Back when this was still a rumor, I found an article that listed only 2/3's of all 360's and PS3's in the US had internet connection, and only 1/3 of them on the global level.
I am pretty sure that you are wrong there. As far as I know, Japan's internet is cheaper and faster than what we have in the USA. We could argue about Google Fiber, but that is only available in 3 cities or so and it is still slow compared to the ~2-3 Gbps speeds some places in Japan have. Japan is miles ahead in internet compared the the USA. Although that is only Japan. Most other countries would have a hard time.
BTW no, I am not Asian.

When would you play without it being connected to the internet? All these people do is complain like big babies. I mean it has built in wifi just in case they dont have the ethernet cable. Other than a typically small story mode, when do they not play online with friends? Like what do they do? Do they play a private match by themselves against bots? I cant even imagine how boring that would be.

Agreed. You know how many times my 360 has been disconnected from the internet? 0.

Contrary to what you think, not everyone enjoys playing online sessions with multiple people. I do not like FPS's or MMORPGs. I prefer playing the story lines of single player games. The few games I play online are sports games and the occasional co-op. I like being able to play when I want just by turning on the system and not by being required to connect to the internet. The few party games that I have (Guitar Hero etc) I like to play in the actual company of other people and my friends and I enjoy being able to take a game to someone else's house and in a big group or rotating out players for top scores. No internet required.

I can give an example, and I live in a fairly populated state, my internet disconnected itself for approximately 50% of Assassin's Creed 3 and 75% of Darksiders II.

In fact, my internet was down for multiple days on end while finishing AC3. Had this been tried with the XB1 I wouldn't have been able to finish the game. On a system I paid $500 for on a game that cost me $60.

People don't see a problem with that?

And before you say "get another internet provider"; where I live its either Comcast or Satellite that has lower speeds and even shoddier connection speed. Fios isn't available here and isn't expected to be here for at least another 5 years.

This is BS. Not about their network, but about the account hacking. My XBOX live account was hacked, and DLC was purchased with a credit card I mistakenly saved on their network.

Lots of people play without being connected to the internet, becauese they don't have to. But I'll give you a good example... I used to be active duty Navy. What do you think I did on my free time for 9 months on a boat?

And what about moving? Have you ever done that? I've had my gaming platforms disconnected for a few days.

Or how about the simple fact of... why should I need to have an internet service to play a game that isn't exclusively online? I suppose the millions of people complaining about that for things like Diablo III and the new Sim City were just babies too? I like games like that for when I travel for work. I don't always have an internet connection in my free time on travel, but I always have power. Sometimes I'm gone long enough to bring a gaming platform of choice.

There are situations outside your world. Don't be so quick to judge.

The latest news on that is a "wait and see". Since Sony came out saying they will no longer have to 'pay to play used games' in the future, Microsoft is waiting to see how bad the backlash is going to be. It's all about money and piracy, so I understand the line in the sand. But then again, we are talking millions of dollars, so the backlash could push them to lighten up this 'feature'.

Not in stone at this time, so you have a few months before this actually occurs.

Not bs. They have to get your personal info some how before they can start to hack your account. Like an email address through social engineering or keylogging software. If they dont have anything to work with they cant hack you. Knowing just the gamertag is not enough

Good news, you get to save your money and keep playing xbox360, which will still be coming out with new games/updates!

And what about moving? Have you ever done that? I've had my gaming platforms disconnected for a few days.
I don't think people are going to NOT buy a system, because they might move one day.

Or how about the simple fact of... why should I need to have an internet service to play a game that isn't exclusively online? The internet connection is partly for gameplay experience, aka you play during the day, the game will be in daytime. if it's raining, it's raining in the game, live updates, etc. Also, the online connection is to help prevent people from stealing games, making sure you purchased the game, and not "borrowing" it from a "friend".
