I'm buying a ZL1 because I thing overall it's a better car. HP isn't everything. If I drove only in straight lines everyday, I might consider a GT500 ,but I don't.
I think the GT500 will out handle the ZL1 as well but nobody can say for sure yet. By saying the GT500 will have it's ass handed to it by the ZL1 is a true fanboi statement no matter what you choose to believe.

Agreed, that statement was fanboish. (if that's a word). It won't get it's ass handed to it ,but I don't think it's going to beat the ZL1 on a road course either. But like most have said who knows.

I just know from experience that 550HP in the GT500 was very hard to get to the ground.

How many of yall did you expect for them to actually say WOW look at that on the ZL-1

Big deal the motor looks pretty. Let them play with there my little pony and talk about how pretty it is. You think people in Horse racing stand behind the horse and talk about how pretty his ass is before he races ?

Fords Supercharger setup is easier to make pretty. Gm gave you a Fast car.

I was at a NMRA at Milan when the GT500s were first out... newbie with his new GT500 was there and was running 15s (or was it 16s), because all he was doing was spinning down the track! Think he did eventually run in the low 13s...

I thought this was an interesting commentary made over there:

After awhile though, the new wears off and she blends in with everyone else. I see the same four or five Camaro's every day on my work commute, and more when I get into the city. Quite frankly, unless they have aftermarket wheels on them or some other custom features, I hardly notice them anymore. When I do, it takes a few seconds for me to determine if it is a base or a SS, because they all look pretty much the same.
Can't say I agree with everything that he said, but I do somewhat agree with the " new girl" comparison when it comes to new versions of vehicles.

And Ford didn't?

The 71 442s looked a whole lot better than the 70, though. Of course, I'm biased because I have one.

It was a good discussion they had over there on their site. I wouldn't have saw it any different in their eyes. It's a Mustang forum, what would you expect? They have no regard for Camaro, and that's how it is. Same here, we have little or no regard for Mustangs.

When cornered, though, I do say that most Mustang afficiandos whip out the "bail out" card when they run out of any real ammunition. Racist bastards.

As pointed out before...who really gives a s**t? The Honey Badger don't give a s**t, so why should we?

Believe me I know what your talking about. Drag slicks do wonders for them though.

Based on this ZL1 owners commentary, looks like ZL1's are going to require a similar upgrade in tires to put the power down.

My new rule is to only accelerate harder in third gear, and even then, not in corners as it will get away from under you.
Now that the cars are getting out there, hopefully we can separate the conjecture from the actuals.

It'll all be skewed. Times recorded are turned by professional drivers. Our new "owners", or "average Joes" are on a huge learning curve. What is it, five different traction control settings? I must say again....

WGAS???

Yikes, I really didn't think traction would be as big of a problem in them. I can't wait to find out.

It will be fun to see 13 GT500s and ZL1s going at it at the track. I know I'll be one of them if I ever get mine.

Exactly...
