Now he could have checked up on it and if nothing had been done, threatened to tell the police-- but again I don't see why he is getting roasted here.

JMO. Maybe I'm missing something.

I agree 100% In a company you have each level of personel.

He told his Boss now its his bosses job to do the right thing.

joe is there to coach a football team not handle the personal matter of the program.
IMO this was a easy way to get rid some someone they knew they had to replace. Joe wasnt even coaching from the sidelines the man was old and he needs to move on. Will he be missed ? you know when bowden left a big part of CFB left. The same has happened now that Joepa is gone however its probably best for the future of the program.

Just sad his legacy will have this written all over it.

Most winning ever College Football coach Fired do to SExual case.

Where I work if I see something im told to let my security department know and thats it no one else. So in my eyes he told his security department the head man who makes the decisions.

This is a sad thing. Very sad I hate this for the victims and there Families.

Agreed. but I'm compelled to make that comparison as the focus of the crime has shifted to those who are not the criminal.

We do this all the time... in politics or our jobs or our marriages.

We focus on the easy target and never address the actual root cause of the problem.

Joe has admitted he should have done more. so he agrees with all of us.

Again if we are all really mostly concerned about the kids, Then Joe or any of those who could have done or said more, are not the issue. Making sure the criminal is held accountable is the only fight left to fight.

I'm sure Joe getting fired is of very little help to the boy who was molested/raped.

Me? I would have called the police. If McQueary is lying, they can arrest him.

Nobody is absolving any of those others. This thread is about opinoins on Joe Paterno. Please tell me who has said it's all Joes fault?

You'll never be good in a possition of that type of responsibility then. Joe Paterno had a responsibility that went beyond just coaching.
The head coach, regardless of what level, takes on the responsibility and leadership that comes with the job. And Joe's resume' speaks for itself. It was his responsibility once he became aware.

But one mistake, however grave it may be does not remove a life largely of good and positive actions.

Don't put Paterno in the same cell as the pedophile. if the criminal had not done this than none of the normally upstanding good people would have been in this situation.

Not that that excuses their own actions but they are not the same acts... Criminal is criminal, negligence is negligence... They are not the same.

That's what I've been saying. I have made it a point to say negligence and not criminal.

And I agree, he's made a mistake at the end of what I understand to be a great career in many ways. And I never said he did anything but dropped the ball on this one thing.

But I do think that we hold him to a higher standard. Plain and simple.

The rest of them, even not being held to that standard, are PATHETIC. WAY worse than Paterno. WAAAAYYYYY worse.

I see people wanting to give Joe all the props and credit and respect but hold him to a lower standard at the same time.

I agree Joe will pay a higher price than any of those who could have done more to prevent further crimes. maybe not intentionally but he's still the public figure here. So, he's gonna take it in the face.

But That should not over shadow the pursuit of the criminal... that should be the headlines. Paterno should be the subtitle....

It's all your fault... This lynch mob is all cause of you...

Finally I have an excuse to ban you... Inciting hostility...

Since I couldn't ban you for beating me at the fest, this will have to do.

I pray this isn't true. But if it is, the whole University should be held accountable.

The ONLY reason this is a story of this magnitude is because it if Joe Paterno. I've said it once and i'm gonna say it again. We are having none of this dialogue if this is Coach Bill Smith at Any Univeristy. It would get a mention in the news and we would all move on. Which when you think about it is very sad. So, for all of you that think Joe Pa is getting too much of the blame or why is he being crucified? There's your answer.

I listen to Mark Madden almost daily, and while he is a loud mouth a** at times, he's usually pretty accurate.

ok, i haven't really been following this case, except from this thread...

let me get this straight, Mike McQueary is the one that saw an act of rape with his own two eyes. He tells Paterno, Paterno tells his boss. Paterno gets the heat and fired and McQueary is now coaching this sunday? Am I missing something here? Why the F isn't McQueary not fired? WTF?
