This was done on the initial Mustang testing day, a different day, which the Camaro also matched on its own initial testing.

What does that matter the whole point was to show that they also tested one with similar numbers. I dont have a hard time excepting that the Camaro and Mustang are pretty darn equal in the quarter mile times but some of you fanboys cant except it.

I definitely don't think you're a fanboy; you like the Mustang and want it to do better than the SS, but you're not going to whine and make excuses, which is far from fanboy in my books.

The reason same day testing matters is simply because the conditions during one day may result in better times.

I think posts like this are more what some of the gloating from C5 members is coming from:

GM will have to put a nearly 500hp mill in the existing SS to outrun this car, or around 460-470hp just to keep up with it.

CURRENTLY it doesn't look like this is the case, but maybe the more magazine reviews come out we'll know better.

I'm not bolster it I am being realistic and respecting the competition. I already said I think the Camaro is better in many ways earlier in this post but you conveniently ignore that and stick with "its better... because it just is".

What's to ignore... the CAMARO WON in this comparo's performance aspects. I respect the Mustang's numbers.. but I also kno that I'm hardly impressed considering Ford seemingly benchmarked the Camaro for the Mustang's specs. How hard was that? Seeing what the competitor is offering and then mimicing them. Funny that for better part of the 8 years the Camaro was gone.. the Mustang engineers did nothing to improve it.. until the competition arrived.

Who cares about modding cars this discussion is about STOCK numbers.

I care. I think any REAL enthusiast cares.

Oh and I appreciate you tooting your own horn about your car collection because that makes your opinion if it being better because it just is even MORE valid.

just to throw in some additional ambiguity, we also tested another Mustang GT (this one in blue and wearing summer tires), which ripped to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds and blitzed the 1,320 feet in 13 seconds at 110.6 mph. That's the kind of razor's edge that can be measured in microns.

I think we can agree the performance numbers are almost identically the same at nearly the same price. Drivers are the only play in who would win. Its a matter of what the buyer wants/prefers. I can just appreciate any modern American Muscle leading the way. I will still turn my head for both.

Why is it that everyone claims the mustang interior is nicer? I can't figure that out. If the see squshy foam and some aluminum trim bits and think a couple bits with different materials means it's better then so be it... I think the Camaro's interior is much cooler looking and better functionally. The mustang interior toally loses me with that tombstone looking center stack and the jules-verne looking instrument faces.

White on black numerals also if a win for Camaro.
