Correctly there is no track pack there is an SVT performance package, but I think thats for the V6... I couldn't find a way to put it on either car though. The GT/CS does not allow you to get the brembo brakes at all even though the wheels that come with it are 19"... in fact none of the 19" wheels except the Dark Stainless ones can be ordered with the Brembo brakes (kinda retarded).

Either way the GT/CS is not the best competition for the SS Camaro, a GT with the 19 inch wheels/brembo brakes option would put it closer to or better in performance with the Summer tires and basically equivalent brakes. Throw in the 3.73 gears and I have a feeling the Camaro won't be ahead anymore...

Put a 3.73 in the Camaro and you are back at the same spot you are with this test....

but it isn't a factory option on the Camaro.. It is on the Mustang...

But it sounds like the standard GT isn't the total performance GT you can get... Which I think before it always was.(other than the GT 500 which was a different model). Many people that order a GT expecting the best are going to be dissapointed that they have to order more options to get the top GT...

I think my point is being missed.....

Anywho, the 2010 Mustang GT base model did not came fully equiped either.

Track pack was an option.
Gears were an option.
etc....

The only performance upgrades on the 2011 are:

Brembo brakes
Performance tires and wheels (18" wheels on base GT)
Gears

The track pack from 2010 is standard equipment for 2011 on all models of the GT as mentioned before.

Let me know where you can order 3.73 gears from the factory on your Camaro SS.

i see they listed the "indicated redline" in the GT as 6750rpm, so they were most likely shifting it before that. No bueno on an engine that peaks at 6500rpm. That engine should be taken to 7k at least.

I stand corrected on the older GT's, But still at least they make them options, whereas the Camaro it's you got what you got, sorry no options to make it faster...

Also, this is the worst recorded run of the new 5.0 and it STILL places in the top 17 on this website for QUICKEST manual transmission stock LS3 Camaros with a trap speed thats faster than one in the top 8! Not bad! even when not driven its best it can post up impressive numbers good enough to place in the standings!nice.

I like how this part was convenietly left out and ignored.

just to throw in some additional ambiguity, we also tested another Mustang GT (this one in blue and wearing summer tires), which ripped to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds and blitzed the 1,320 feet in 13 seconds at 110.6 mph. That's the kind of razor's edge that can be measured in microns.

yeah tires do make a difference but those tires are stock on every SS... you need the brembo brake pack in the mustang to get the same type of tires

This is true, considering the GT's lower starting price though, if you order the Brembo package/19inch wheels and tires the price goes right in line with an equivalently equipped SS.

they are ignoring all other test. but who cares really, its not like their going to change now because of better performance.

the camaros advantage comes from all that torque down low

He also left out the part where they said it was hard to launch and it was spinning the tires through the 3-4 shift.

Driver's race. What's the magazine count now? 2 for 2? Anyways, this doesn't appear to be the blowout many were expecting. Oh and the Mustang may have better interior quality, but IMO the Camaro interior looks so much better.
