you know even with CAFE standards GM has produced a wide variety of cars that meet that standard today without removing the V8, GM is running away with the fuel economy game. toyota cant create a safe car and is practically recalling every model from 2007 to 2009 that is going to kill their "desirability," i most certainly wouldn't want a car that tells me what to do and screw it's fuel economy if it isn't safe. GM has car out now that get 32 mpg in an SUV and pretty much every model has potential of reaching 30 mpg...even a vette, what do you think the skip shift is for, it by passes the gas guzzler tax, I believe even a zo6 passes the tax. the V8 wont die and if it does...then I have a lot of saving to do

Now I have to figure out if there is v8 in the 6th gen then I will wait for the lighter model. I was going to save anyways for a 2ss and pay in full(or one hell of a down payment), I know it is alot and it is crazy but I know what I am doing and i have plenty of time to do it.

Now there's an interesting thought

You guys do realize that GM's next generation of V8s are going to be much more fuel efficient than the current ones?

GM needs to up it's game big time with fuel efficiency but so does everyone else. So if GM couldn't find a way to work a V8 into the next Camaro Ford and Dodge and everyone else will have just as much a problem. There will be a V8 if they make a 6th Gen. It will probably have a gas guzzler tax and it will probably be the top trim and cost a lot. The reality is a Camaro without a V8 option just isn't a Camaro. Fbodfather knows that. He hs helped to bring us the car we know and love today and if a car in the future is to wear the Camaro name He will make sure that car deserves that name. These are rumors. Most rumors have a shred of truth to them. So it could be that the base engine is a twin turbo v6 putting out insane power, and a ridiculous (powered) V8 option who knows? The next Corvette is rumored to have a 700hp ZO6 and a 900hp ZR1 do you honestly think they would neuter the Camaro?
Exactly, its not just GM that will have to but also Ford and Chrysler. They wont just stop at one company, everyone will suffer.

Well im assuming too, i mean the 5.0 is so new it hasnt even been sold to the general public yet, so im assuming it can last 4 years, i really dont see Ford financing the research for a new state of the art V8 just to retire it less than 4 years later ya know? So assuming this engine can last 4 years then it would undoubtedly show up in the 2014 Mustang, and given the option betwen a 2014 V6 and 2011 5.0 id take the 5.0 haha, just my oppinion at least. I mean its rare two companies will release new engines in rival cars at the same time so its hard to imagine the Mustang releasing a new one just as the Camaro does ya know?

Don't get your hopes up, Ford plans a redesign in 2014 for the 50th anniversary as well. Link below.

People have it set into their head that GM is whipped by the government cause of all that bailout stuff but GM and all other car companies are loyal only to the customer and the sale. If GM has the decision of doing something that might dissapoint the government or something that might dissappoint the customer, which do you think they'd pick? The source of revenue of course

Honestly I don't think any of the BIG 3 will be ditching their V8's. They should only get better with the advances being made. The percentages of V8's sold this year surprised GM and made them take notice. They are paying attention to the market and the market analysis is what drives the decisions for upcoming makes and models.
