The negative post on the frame is easy and makes sense, but the tensioner bolt seems to not be too easy to use. I did see the option of just loosening the tensioner bolt and then cutting the ring terminal to make it a blade type so you can slide it under the bolt without removing. Is this the easiest method or is there another more convenient bolt to use on the engine? Thanks for any advice. Hard for me to fathom how GM did not correct this issue which was / is present on the 5th gen Camaro's as well.
Read through the first linked thread I mentioned in my earlier post. I know it’s a long thread but there are several examples of ways to connect the cable to the engine. FWIW - I started that thread by creating the method of notching the cable and slipping it under the tensioner bolt. It has worked perfectly for over four years. It has never loosened.

Hi Dan, thanks for the quick reply on this. Good to know your long lasting results. I'm going to go with this method.

SOO weird update - I did buy this car used and I bought an extra ground cable only to find one already installed by the first owner - or is this installed stock? I recently replaced the battery and I am still having super slow turnover on secondary starts in warmer weather and often have to wait 30 minutes or so to get it back on. If I already have a ground and im still getting crappy starts what are next steps - replace the starter?

Yeah that's stock. You just need to add your new one to that existing ground.

Thanks! Thought I was going crazy for a minute. I'll likely install this on the water pump bolt so I dont have to deal with any pulley nonsense. Hoping this works and my starter isn't already toast

***RESOLUTION***

I finally installed my insane thick (TWSS!) 0 gauge cable on the water pump bolt. Wasn't able to get the bolt all the way through with my current tools but had enough space to secure the ground wire with the spacer/nut on the other side.

Turned the car on 4 x in a row with no hesitation on an 85 degree day down in TX. I'll likely go to an auto shop to fully secure the bolt completely but just vouching for the fact this is a TRUE FIX. Cant believe Chevy couldn't just include this instead of waiting for a class action lawsuit on their shitty starters. I am really hoping that burnt smell I had a while back didn't result in any perm damage to the solenoid, etc. but only time will tell.

FYI on the cable I used:

That’s good news thanks for posting up. If it struggles again be sure to post about it thanks.

Couple month update I'm getting sluggishness again when cranking the starter within like 15-20 minutes if I need to take multiple stops and I am noticing the longer it takes to start the worse the burning smell from the starter solenoid? Wonder if my starter is just cooked and I need a new one with an aftermarket heat shield and between that and the additional ground wire that should solve it long term? I'm just reading elsewhere that Chevy dealers are absolutely gouging people for starter replacements since it's an annoying repair (1500-3000b ucks)
