Someone said the 21's had some mechanical issues. I can definitely think of one huge positive with the color "shock." If you're ever in an accident, the other driver could never say, "officer I didn't see him." 😉 |

My car doesn't squirm much under full throttle, by the way, and I have much more power and normal street tires, nothing special. If your alignment is spot on and, again, you have good tires with enough heat in them (how much you need depends on the tire), you should be golden. Look at the positive side, too: you won't need to press the brake pedal for a burnout

I've learned over the years of owning a lot of performance cars that I've always eventually wanted more power, I think that's inevitable So why not start at the top. |

Don't think you'll regret a ZL1 at all. Not too much power for the street, but if you want to can feel the torque even at low speeds. Also i've never had a problem putting the power down, especially with good tires and them not being cold. Only time i've really experience the backend going a little squirrely is putting down a little too much power on making a turn (BUT that is too be expected)
One other thing to really note is this comment Quote:
Also it might affect to some degree how you use your car. I drive and run errands around town all of the time, but I also don't leave it a random parking lot for any more than an hour(if that long) even in the middle of the day. So no running to the movies, or most other places where she will sit in one place for too long. Even though I know other than a tow truck my car really isn't going anywhere, mostly to avoid dealing with the after effects of an attempted theft. However even if you don't have to park the car in a shared garage, or auto theft is not as big as where I am. I would still highly recommend at the very least looking at having an IGLA installed, and adding the anti-carjacking and diagnostic block options. In addition if needing/wanting a little more deterrence/information checking out Compustar Alarm too. The alarm is much louder and annoying than the factory, plus depending on options selected notifications are much much more reliable than factory ones that someone has set off the alarm. Or if not the above, make sure to add some theft deterrence/prevention other than the factory alarm and immobilizer which are pretty useless. |

And having the idea of your car being stolen constantly in the back of your mind, which kind of ruins the experience of owning a ZL1. Does anyone know if most of these thefts are from getting the key fob signal and driving away or are they being towed away. I've seen YouTube videos where you add a module to your car and every time you get in you have to punch in a code using the buttons on the steering wheel otherwise the car won't start but I guess you still have to worry about tow trucks, I don't think you can get around that. |

Deterrents available to you (since you're in Canada) include steering wheel bars, a starter/fuel pump relay (aka Mobilistics), OBD-II port relocation or maybe higher end alarm solutions like IGLA, similar to what you've seen on youtube.
