The original Nitto NT555R (not R2) ran narrow for their size so that’s why it worked back in the day. Different manufacturers will run smaller or larger sometimes which makes predicting a good fit a crapshoot sometimes when trying to run bigger tires.

I have been running that tire size for 7yrs with no rubbing issues. First thing I did was relocate the harness behind the liner and it's good to go. I ran the original 555r on stock wheels, then the R2. Now I have R2's on a 20x10.5 ET38 with no issue.
