It was just a choice GM made. BUT I can assure you GM used its internal test for luggage and convinced themselves they could put golf clubs in the trunk. The problem is what GM uses for that test are clubs from the 1960s in a canvas Sunday bag. The driver is 3” shorter than today’s and in my test, I could get my clubs in the trunk of the Gen6 Camaro IF I PUT THE DRIVER IN THE BACK SEAT. But that is just the example of the fact the trunk is smaller. Top that off with a high lift over and yo7 have a trunk less usable than the other two players in the segment. Now going antiquing is a new one.

The C6's and 7's could hold so much in the back.

Living in France, where the only imported Chevrolets are Aveos, Sparks, and other bland cars of the same ilk, it was thanks to Hawaii Five-0 that I fell in love with the 6th generation Camaro. The 5th generation was also cool in Transformers. These are the only examples of advertising or collaboration I know of, compared to Mustangs, which are more often featured in movies or TV series. A few years ago, European sports cars were certainly high-performing, had good handling, etc., but in my opinion, they were too "serious" and had overly rounded, generic shapes. I'm not talking about Italian cars; they're magnificent but too expensive. Furthermore, the engines were almost always 6-cylinders for the German cars, or even just 4-cylinders for our French ones, so no great sound.

The trunks sucked in my 2015 GT and 2021 LT1 as my Yetis cooler would not fit. Go right in my C6's.

also as i've said before the 5thgen was an aberration. i think there's no way golf clubs fit underneath the hatch of the 3rd and 4th gens.

Now I don't need to carry a lot of stuff, just two laptops. I only have to be places once or twice a week for work, and my 22 SS is definitely a fun way to get there. It also does grocery and Costco trips, as my wife would rather ride with me in my car than in hers. It does well. You can fit 28 pieces of Bermuda sod in the trunk, and I keep a tarp under the trunk mat for stuff like that. You have to really slow roll it on dirt and gravel roads to stop the rocks from doing bad work on the paint, but it's doable. I try to spend as little time as possible in boring cars. I also enjoy detailing and cleaning, so the car always looks great. The only time we really take my wife's car is to areas where Camaros tend to vanish if left unattended too long. |

sure when you fold the seats down, but he's talking about just in the trunk. you can also put a golf club bag through the pass through of the 6thgen, but he doesn't want that, he wants them just in the trunk.

Believe it or not, I do Costco trips in my MR2 Turbo. Granted, it's typically not a BIG trip. We use the Tesla or my Equinox EV for those. But since I run my Camaro on E85 ($2.45/gal) the MR2 is the only vehicle in our household that refuels at Costco. So while I'm there I pick up the 40lb bag of dog food, two flats of canned dog food, and if we need it the big ass packs of toilet paper or paper towel. The trunk behind the engine is surprisingly deep and can fit the big paper. Plus there's a small frunk, and when needed, the passenger seat.

![]() ![]() So I wind up doing what Number 3 describes. If I put my clubs in the trunk, the driver has to come out and go in the back seat. TBH, typically if it's nice enough to go golfing it's nice enough to roll with the top down and then I just drop the whole bag into the back seat.

when i had 3rd and 4th gens i had a friend in a wheelchair. other friends and i would take him places. his folded up wheelchair would not fit under those rear hatches, and that wasn't something i was even going to try and stuff in the back seat.
