2SS non-1LE with nearly all 1LE options?
I just bought a 2020 2SS that has the following options according to the original sticker:
- 1LE Track Pack suspension handling package - $1,970 - Magnetic suspension - $1,695 - 4 corner Brembo upgrade - $3,645 - Red painted calipers $395 - NPP dual mode exhaust - $995 Does this mean I basically have all of the 1LE suspension and braking upgrades but lack the wider wheels and tires, the different rear gear ratio and added cooling, and the alcantara interior? Seems odd the dealer optioned $9,300 in most but not all 1LE options rather than just ordering a real 1LE for $7,000 that would have included more and the alcantara interior? Must not have been a good idea as it sat on the original dealer lot for about 18 months before selling to the first buyer from what I can tell despite being an easily sellable black/black/black color scheme. In addition to that, it had about $2k of other options, thus making it likely a higher sticker than a real 1LE. Anyway, I’m happy to have some of the 1LE bits without really having to pay the premium commanded by used 1LEs. I don’t think the resale market really prices in these original options too much so it’s a good value used. Curious if anyone else has seen one like this or what the rationale would have been for paying more to option it this way. |

I've seen a few of these type of cars.
The items that can't be installed/optioned without the 1LE package are the eLSD rear diff, 285/305 staggered forged wheels, MRC calibration, and suede shift knob/steering wheel. You could add the wheels and suede yourself, the MRC calibration and eLSD cannot be done though. The highest overall optioned 2SS from 2019+ was this one with $24,130 in options. Considering the lowest priced ZL1's were $65,585 MSRP for that same year, someone really wanted that spec lol Some others I posted here https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=634877

$24k in options puts mine to shame! I’m guessing that was likely custom ordered by an individual and not by a dealer for stock?
Mine think was a dealer order but must have been unpopular because it sat for so long before selling, which makes sense because it was $53k but you could get a 2SS 1LE that had all the same options and more for $49k. Maybe they just really didn’t like alcantara. |

I really debated a 1LE when I ordered my 2020 2SS... At the time, I didn't like the black hood or the blade spoiler, also in 2020 the 1LE only came in an M6 and my plan was for this to eventually be my daily driver (which it has NOT become), but the thought of sitting in stop & go SoCal traffic in an M6 didn't sound fun (plus the A10 is faster)...
I ended up adding the following 7 options to my 2SS when I ordered it: NPP Dual Mode Exhaust Magnetic Ride Control 10-Speed Automatic Transmission Red Painted Calipers 20" Carbon Flash wheels Footwell Lighting Black Camaro Fender Badge I've since replaced the wheels with MRR 017 1LE replicas in Gunmetal (I really tried to order the car with the 1LE wheels but there was simply no way to do it without the 1LE package). Also added a bunch of other stuff (see my signature)... It does seem weird someone optioned a 2SS with a few thousand dollars more options that were similar to the 1LE without just getting the 1LE package... To each their own, I guess...

I remember my main wants (and most others lol) were MRC and NPP when shopping for a SS. Found it much easier to look at 1LE’s rather than searching whether the car had the options or not (this was before I knew of the window sticker api)

Beside the lack of alcantara interiors, wider wheels and tires, upgraded bigger brakes, and other suspension upgrades that the real SS1LE has it would not have the eLSD, that only would be on the stock SS1LE or ZL1 package.

Doesn’t the Brembo brake upgrade option get you the same Brembo brakes as the 1LE?

The eLSD is the only 1LE thing you can't retrofit into a standard SS, but all the options do add up to much, much more than the 1LE package price tag.

Not relevant to your car's model year, but when I was struggling to get an allocation on a 2023, placing orders at various dealers, some of the 1LE components were on constraint, and your odds of getting the package were smaller than if you ordered an SS with some upgrades, even if it wasn't cost effective. In the end, I got lucky picking up a cancelled order on a delivery.
It still irritates me that they upcharged $5k (largely) for leather in the 2SS package, then give you nothing off, charging the full $7k for the 1LE, and you lose the leather you already paid for (compared to upgrading from cloth in a 1SS). |

That is pretty crazy now that you mention it. Seems like the heated leather is the bulk of the value with the 2SS upgrade. I would have been totally fine with a 1SS 1LE if you could have gotten it with heated seats and a heated steering wheel, which were a must-have for me.

My 2020 is very similar, but have $20,430 in options! It was ordered by GM to use as a media car to promote GM performance parts. Notice the "dealer to whom delivered" on the sticker. I'm missing the magnetic ride though. eLSD was only available with 1LE and ZL1.
