The 6.6 V8 is intriguing. 45 Less HP than our LT1 -equipped Camaros (and Corvettes) but 40 ft/lbs more tq all available at a lower RPM.
Has me dreaming of the sound of the good old big block 396 and 427 days. Thus they could bring back the Biscayne name! I saw a ‘69 in mint condition at auction once, with exactly 2 options - and no it wasn’t power steering or brakes, 427 Turbo jet, factory 4 on the floor, posi, vinyl bench seat, no radio, no PS or PB.

But... if it's going to bear the Camaro badge while having four doors, it just trashes the heritage (IMHO). If it's Chevy-badged but with a different model plate, then it's just a non-premium trim version of the car and isn't trashing the Camaro name. I fully suspect that the Bowtie version, whatever the model name may be, is for nothing more than a way for GM to maintain "essentially" the same car in NASCAR as they have today. Remember that they already dropped the "Camaro" and could possibly just add a different model name in its place while keeping the underlying vehicle the same. |

I strongly doubt it will be the current truck 6.6. It will probably be a higher revving version that may not even share much if any parts or compatibility with the current 6.6. In 2026 the Gen VI small block is going to be coming out. Not sure on how different it will be versus the Gen V but since it will be a new Gen I’m confident its output will be different.

For sure if they are doing a NG CT5 it opens the door for a coupe of some kind. Remember we had and ATS coupe as well as the CTS Coupe. Both of which had outstanding V variants.
The CT4 has been long in the tooth and didn't get the interior updates the CT5 received so it seemed clear at that point GM either had a longer term EV plan or no plan to replace it. The wild cards are simply does GM develop an architecture that will do what Dodge now has where it can be an EV or ICE? Seems like that provides longer term flexibility, especially if there is any need to go broader with such an architecture. But Alpha is expensive and it resulted in an expensive Camaro which was part of it's issue (small but still a part). So the possibilities are not endless but we could certainly bill the announcement of an ICE CT5 replacement as an open window for a coupe of some kind. The issue is when GM came to these conclusions, which would indicate a potential start date which drives a launch date. If the CT5 ends December 2026, a replacement with no blackout would have needed to start at least a year and a half ago. And if it's an all new architecture, more than 2 years ago. As always, time will tell.

Wasn’t the CT5 technically the re-named CTS and CT4 the ATS? Same thing for the ATS…… why spend money on that when for a few bucks more you had the CTS?

Yes, you are correct. Just renaming scheme they did a few years ago. The CT5 and CTS were basically LWB versions of the CT4/ATS.

I hope they allow room for wider wheels/tires on the new hot versions, in comparison to the current blackwing models.

But really, eff the Cadillac alphas. Any turbo 4 or 3.6 is a poison pill. My #1 ask will always be a best effort 90° pushrod 6. |

They had one. One of the best motors ever made.
It wasn’t broke. And they just had to fix it with the 3.6

It wouldn't fit in any of the new products in the car or crossover portfolio and it wouldn't pass the then new emissions requirements.

Someone go find the tool and die sets and put them back together. And good engineers can make them fit. Mercedes engineers made their big S Class 5 liter V8 fit in the mid-size E Class which was specifically designed for in-line 4, 5, and 6 cylinder motors.
