What killed it was cost and the already evident decline in overall sedan volume in the US. Add to that the fact that Chevrolet had 4 sedans in the portfolio at the time. Impala, Malibu, Cruze, Aveo...5 if you count Volt separate from Cruze and a target for no more than 3.
Worked on a DTS replacement off of Zeta (quietly killed only a few months after approval)and if I recall there was a Zeta Buick in China for a bit.

There was.

And there it is, GM added the front electric motors I talked about from the E-Ray to the C8 Corvette for a cool +200hp, called it a ZR1X and that vehicle just ran a 6:49 on the Nürburgring. This is the way.

Again, no new engineering or assembly line needed. The Camaro should RIP. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be interested in a 7th Gen no matter how it's configured as the tech and gizmos are getting a bit excessive.

That said, GM seems to love EV's, so I doubt any (potential) new Camaro will be similar to previous versions.
Our forecast now shows a Chevrolet vehicle coming out of Lansing Grand River...with a 6.6L V8...with a manual transmission...nameplate undetermined...with 4 doors.

That is LITERALLY all I am willing to say on the topic. I won't be answering any questions. What I said is what I said.

Lansing Grand River. Nice. We all know what chassis is being produced there.
The Alpha architecture is way too F*$@ing good to not produce another variant.

Chevy nameplate, slight increase in engine size (likely one of the new V8's under development?), but FOUR DOOR. So, sounds like it will be a Chevy CT5 in essence. All well and good for those that want a four door but don't necessarily want the Caddy nameplate, but if it bears the name Camaro it will just be a complete bastardization of the heritage of the car.

Nissan marketed the Maxima as the "Four Door Sports Car' for years... They gave up when they realized it only served to make people chuckle.

There was a brief moment in time in the 19990s when the Maxima was a car magazine reviewers darling.

If you remember you could get the 24 valve 3.0 liter V6 with a 5 speed manual transmission and memory drivers seat, central locking, it was one of the best performing and well-equipped front wheel drive cars in the day.

I bought a 2002 Maxima SE new and drove it for two years. It was a pretty good car overall and I put about 45k miles on it without any issues at all. That VQ motor was used all over the place and was actually quite capable well beyond what it was tuned for in the Maxima. The biggest weakness of that car in terms of being "sporty" was that it was front wheel drive and the lack of weight out back made it a little squirrely in the corners.

This popped up on a Caddy forum. And a buddy found the same thing on a Camaro FB page....was a screenshot with no link. No official release via GM or Cadillac's news pages.

Probably click bait bullshit.

I have access to GM Media's website where they house all of their press releases. Nothing like that on their site. It is remotely possible that it could have been issued as an embargoed piece to select journalists. I have a friend who is on that list. But as of this morning they have seen no such release. Plus if it was embargoed it would have "Embargoed until <this time> on <this date>" printed in bold red at the top. And they take that super-seriously. Violating an embargo is the easiest way to lose access to all things GM Media.

Yep, I wasn't believing it, lots of nonsense out there on the interwebs.
