Steering Knuckle Upgrade - Using OEM Blackwing Precision Pack components
Hey everyone,
I made a video showing how to replace the OEM Camaro steering knuckle with the OEM Blackwing Precision Pack parts. This allows you to get as much as -3.1° of camber up front on the SS 1LE without having to go to an aftermarket solution like camber plates. The part numbers and torque specs and all that jazz are in the description. Previously I was only ever able to get -2.7° at the most if I was lucky. I tested this out at Road Atlanta before I headed out there and set the car up with -2.8°/-2.7° up front. Tire wear on my SC3R was phenomenal.

Is this just for the SS-models? I know the rear control arms are also aluminum vs stamped steel as the ZL1 parts. Just didn't know if the front arms had any benefits over the ZL1 parts or if they are the same.

Is this just a track benefit?
Is there any benefit for a vehicle that rarely or never sees a track to do this? I know it is about getting more from the alignment. |

This would be for all models. The ZL1 and SS 1LE use the same front steering knuckle. As far as the ZL1 1LE goes, it already has the adjustable camber plate at the top of the strut, so it would be a minimal benefit, but it would still allow for more adjustment than before.

If you have no intention of tracking the car, there is no added benefit for daily or street driving with these knuckles.

What exactly is different with these knuckles? Is the casting different or did they drill the holes in a different spot?

It looks like the upper hole is slightly repositioned, and they also made the neck of the knuckle a little thicker. The material up at the top looks like it was removed, too, so that the knuckle can kick in further at the top before it hits the shock body.

Alright, so I not only replaced the stock front knuckles with the Cadillac performance ones, but lengthened the upper knuckle bolt to allow the knuckle to almost touch the strut. Swapped in new outer tie rods and new wheel bearings while I was at it. I have an alignment scheduled for this week, but as it stands on the digital level, I’m at -4.9 up front on the driver side with -4.5 on the passenger. Visually, you can see the more aggressive camber. I’ll have the shop dial out to -3 front and -2 rear.

did you try that same modification to the strut before you went to a different knuckle?
