Impressive! In the past (nine years), I've ran several DSS CF driveshafts on my M6 TT car, each with different rear carriers (ZL1 and 9"). Only issue I had was spinning the driveshaft due to improperly cured epoxy but DSS quickly remedied that. I drove it rain or shine, winter and summer, daily and racecar. I know they had some changes in the recent past so I wonder if quality has slipped. Buddy still has one his 1000whp plus SC M6 and no failure over same long time period. They're supposed to be balanced at something like 10k RPM but I do believe I had some vibration from it.

Does anyone know what this warming is referring too? Is it the glue holding the spindles or resin of the carbon fiber? Does anyone know the temp up in the tunnel where the driveshaft is? I would assume the temp in the tunnel is hooter after a run, and then you idle around back to the line or a street pull and then you come into traffic and idle which would probably allow heat to build up. I see it says bonded ends, so I assume the glue and the spindles ?

the bonding adhesive they use on the ends to hold the aluminum in for the yokes

calypso50kid - that's what I was also told by another person. Sad that mine didn't fail there. so it really had a different issue than. Thanks for confirming!

I spoke with Jordy from Gulf Coast Driveshaft, and he said that theirs will take a 9mm shot and still hold. They also recommended wrapping the exhaust close to the front of the driveshaft to reduce heat for the glue, but yours did not break there.

Maybe yours took a shot from road debris?

That would be a more likely guess, I think I wrote it earlier, a lot of the time these CF shafts fail from getting nicked or scratched and weakening the material. A rock hitting it and causing a imperfection is definitely possible.

When I change out third members on my race car I'm extremely careful when i remove the shaft to make sure it doesn't touch anything on the way out and then back in.

Can't speak for all CF driveshaft but the QA1's don't have any issues with nicks or scratches. They build CF driveshafts for dirt track cars which will see far more debris than a street driven car. I had my QA1 driveshaft in my Hellcat for 3 1/2 years as a daily driver without any issues at all. The 2020-2022 Shelby GT500 comes with a CF driveshaft from the factory.

Bottom line, if a CF driveshaft fails, assuming there were no other drivetrain issues that contributed to the failure, then it was simply defective.

Where mine failed, the exhaust covers that area almost 100%. I couldn't even get a clear viewpoint to get a good photo with the exhaust installed. I had to drop the entire exhaust to get a good look at the damage. Not saying a rock or something couldn't of made it up there. But, I think the chance of me hitting the lottery are just as good. No really update form DSS... the warranty process was started last week.

Update: DSS is not being very responsive to Phastek, who I bought the driveshaft. I decided to just put the factory shaft back in. That was successful and only took me about an 2.5 hours to get the driveshaft reinstalled, reinstall all the bracing, heat shield and to get the exhaust and mufflers reinstalled! Brought it down off the QuickJacks, started it up, drove around the neighbor hood, and no issues! Need to throw out kudo's to Nick and Mike at Katech. Mike sent me instructions on removing and installed the driveshaft with all the torque specs. Nick answered photo text for me each step of the way where I struggled to know exactly what to do etc. He confirmed at the end that it all looked installed correctly from the final photos etc. Nick responded day and late evening and on the weekends when I had questions or needed confirmation! So, a big thanks to Katech, Mike & Nick !

Update: Phastek is taking care of me on the failed driveshaft issue. They are issuing me a full refund once I send back the driveshaft to them. That's GREAT news!!!!
