I did the I did the BCM update on my 2022 SS 1LE 6-speed. Was nervous bringing the car to the dealership but they treated it good. 30 minutes to complete the update. I was in and out in a little over an hour.

It actually looks like the TCM reprogram is a recall and the Security Update (BCM reprogram) is a bulletin...

So, an M6 vehicle is not applicable to this TCM update, then. I may just skip this altogether.

The one you outlined, no... not for the M6 cars. The other one applies, however, but no one seems willing or able to actually call out what it is they're doing.

And that's the reason why I'm most likely skipping it as no one really knows what they're doing. I was hoping to get this done before my tune but doesn't look like it. And after I get a tune, I'm afraid they'll mess up the tune, even though they should only be updating the BCM, not ECU. But, dealerships sometimes have a way of messing things up!

Do you read the release notes of updates that your computer/cell phone/etc receive?

I'm just asking you a direct question, do you read what is in the release notes for any and all software or hardware products that you use?

I'm going to guess you do not, and why you would be so afraid about an update that has obviously been tested and is in production on thousands of cars..

Your guess would be incorrect... I -do- read release notes, documentation, and contracts (before I sign them).

BCM update, first power on it said something about close and open windows..? I turned the car off and on and it went away. Nothing to note different. The hardest part was removing my dummy obd2. First time I've been to a dealer.

That's normal. Same thing will come up if you disconnect the battery. Just roll the windows down & back up, and you're done. No need to reboot the car, lol.

First off, I'm not asking for your opinion. Second, there's a reason for forums so there can be an exchange of info, Q+ A's, etc. for sharing with the entire world.

Third, if the information given on a stupid letter wasn't as cryptic as a 8-year old explaining it, there wouldn't be 18 pages of this stuff being discussed.

Just took the time to read through this entire thread....It's just a security enhancement to try and prevent the stealing of vehicles by quick reprogramming a key fob people.....It's ok...everyone relax lol.....so many conspiracy theorists here....I think people are reading way too much into this bulletin...
