Thoughts on ZL1 for sale?

Interested in this car but have no history. Any thoughts what's been done to it?

Looks tuned, possibly headers, cam, cat delete?

Failed emissions test so dealer trying to get rid of it.

What gives away that it's an ethanol tune? If so I'll walk away, as we have no ethanol around me.

As long as it has good oil pressure, I'd buy it as long as you have PLENTY of room for a tune, $2500 in exhaust, and then some.

The flex fuel will allow for any ethanol content... so you can run 93 or some degree of ethanol depending on overall mods

Don't walk away due to that. It has a flex fuel sensor. That means you can run 93 octane, E85, and any blend in between (pending you have enough fueling).

Crawl under it to see if it's got cats. If not, factor in a couple grand there for good ones. Then factor in another thousand for a proper tune.

It's a 19+, so you won't have to worry about the oil pump. If you can get it for a steal, then I'd buy it. But just know you're in it for at least a tune, and likely cats if you need to pass inspection.

I'm in Colorado at 8K feet, so all we have is 91 max Octane. So you are saying with the flex fuel sensor, I can run 91 with the current tune the car has or I'd need to get it re-tuned? I'm in the middle of nowhere, so not sure what the tuning possibilities are.

I'm also in a smog-less county, so no need for cats. Car is a 2021 with 5K miles, clean carfax up for $60K, was thinking of offering $55K.

Sick price...

Once the car is properly tuned, no need to change the tune to run different E content. The Gen V ecu logic adapts and pulls timing accordingly

I don't think there are too many "Smog-less" Counties, so that is probably a large factor... Go in at $50k and see what they say...

There are remote tuners everywhere, so if that doesn't keep you from testing, that can be an option to explore. There are a couple really good guys around here, and a Sponsor that posts, too. If it only needs cats, sounds okay (mechanically), and needs a tune, it might not be a big deal. It could be that there's just not interest where you are.
