Mine does that too, if I'm in Sport mode. I think it's on the 2-3 shift around 60-65 mph or so (just a guess, chatgpt says 68 mph). It's the traction control kicking in to prevent the tires breaking loose and kicking the car out sideways. As Capt says, turning off traction control will "fix" it, as will putting the car in Touring mode. And no, I've never had the car actually kick out sideway on the 2-3 shift, or any other shift. It's a bit of over reaction by the TC system, IMO. I have the Continental DWS06+ tires, so YMMV with different tires & sizes.

from what i can tell all the mode selector does is change throttle dont think it messes with gear shifts. track mode only thing i can tell is the steering gets stiffer |

It definitely affects shifting...

I identified the 2-3 shift as causing a "hanging" between shifts with my A10 under similar sorts of acceleration. I will usually catch sight of a flashing TC light, but have not seen that happen in conjunction with the issue - will double check for it next time the symptom occurs. More details about the similar (?) issue I am experiencing can be found in this thread:

When my car does it, it doesn't seem to be a "hanging" or over revving issue. It seems to be shifting at the normal RPM point, and it is always accompanied by a TC light. It happens most any time. Luckily it hasn't happened during a race against another car, LOL.

That's the 60mph shift point, always does it on our cars if the tires are not sufficient to grab traction especially with TC on. My car did it at stock power levels with the stock 275's badly. Its why I upgraded to 305's and a better tire. Now with the mods and 555R2's my car no longer does it at all. With the power level I am at which is 510rwhp I can go from 10-15 mph to 100% throttle and not have a problem. But I can't do it from a dig on the street with the same 555R2's without warming them up first. But yes it can feel like the car bogs down hard, then lunges forward when traction is regained. It feels like you hit a rev limiter but you are not, it's TC cutting power from the engine. TL-DR whatever conditions existed at the time it was attempted were not sufficient for the tires with TC on. Also your wheel size in the ECM can affect this as well, Say for example you run stock 275's but upgrade to 305's if the ECM is not updated for the correct wheel size differential it can affect the Traction Control System, and ABS adversely. Soooo ya... it can actually do it more with a wider tire because of that. But, that is enitrely dependent on overall wheel diameter difference front to back if it diverges significantly you will notice TC and ABS functionality changes, or at worse your ABS system and TC system will throw a warning if the difference is beyond normal tolerances. (When that happens your ABS and TC system is disabled in this error state)

That is exactly what it feels like... Very aggressive deceleration...

The traction/stability control does some weird stuff - Fully engaged, I recently I had 2 occasions (back-to-back) where I shifted from 1st to 2nd gear @ 6k+ rpm (M6), then once in second gear (WOT), I accelerated briefly for a split second, but the ECU fully cut throttle input until I released the throttle. It's never done this before. I aired the rear tires down 5 psi and the issue did not persist under the same conditions.
There was another time I had the ESC in competitive mode, did a rolling burnout (I had just bought the car and was seeing what it could do), and it fully cut throttle around 5-6k rpm, before redline. ^Both instances were jarring with a clunk sound. It feels like hitting the rev limiter with an M6 I've also many other instances where the car noticeably limits my throttle when mashing the gas with the nannies on. It feels like the power falls-on-its-face but is not jarring. This seems more common when the temperature is below 65*F. BTW, I have 305 NT555G2 tires and this stuff still happens. |
