Mode Selector switch in the way?!?!

Hello everyone,

I just bought a 2022 Camaro SS, 6-speed, and I am loving it. Why is the mode selector switch below the stick? I constantly inadventantly switch my drive modes while shifting.

Is this a common issue, and are there any aftermarket parts that prevent the switch from accidentally rubbing, like a plastic shield over the button?

Other than that, I love the car. It’s been a blast to drive.

Thanks all

Remember press release and press again on traction control to go into competition mode

I just picked up a carbon fiber trim piece from Amazon, when installed the buttons are more recessed and thus harder to inadvertently hit. It works for me. Someone sells a 3D-printed cover but it looks like a high school shop project.

Easy there...we're pretty much smarter than everyone. It's the bean counters that VE everything to death, to the point where it no longer works as designed.

Perhaps the end user is not operating the car in strict accordance with the manufacturer's written instructions and requirements.

That said, I inadvertently changed modes in my M6 car a couple of times during the first few months of ownership and then adjusted my grip on the shifter such that I no longer drag my arm across the center console, Problem solved. And I was kidding above with regard to the manufacturer's written instructions and requirements. Obviously, shifting style is means and methods. That responsibility is on the operator and not the engineers who designed the vehicle.

I thought it was going to be a total nightmare after I bought the car and it happened to me the first few times. Surprisingly in like a week I naturally just seemed to adjust my position slightly I guess. It happens so seldom now I can't remember the last time it happened.

I have a short, throw shifter on mine and probably hit that button once or twice a year.

I hit mine and my buddy hit it while driving it the first few times.

Bought a color coordinated trim cover, and the cover linked above. Since installing the trim cover I have not hit the button accidentally.

Cover is in the glove box for future use, if necessary.

I got the trim cover linked below - problem solved going on three years now. The particular color I've linked tied in well with the door trim, but there are other color options:
