I know I'm not in the majority here, but I am pretty rough on brakes. On my 18 SS 1LE, I actually turned the calipers black from the heat by my second or third day on track. Note, that process started with me foolishly running in Sport 1 (and the computer using brakes for stability control), which might have been a contributing factor. I have evolved to RACE mode and added the blackwing cooling fins, but the blackening of the calipers continued. I'm advanced/instructor level, and I worked on technique, but still tend to overuse them, LOL.
During the winter, I upgraded to the ZL1 brakes also. Note, the ZL1 and ZLE calipers are the same except color. For me, it was about getting the extra mass for heat absorption. Been on the track only one day, but the brakes seemed pretty nice, and the caliper stayed the same color, LOL |

The red on my brakes deepened a bit last summer. Pads were getting worn and the thinner pads transfer a lot more heat into the caliper. Might try Ti shims this year. No issue with my brakes overall though, I run Brembo fluid, Ferodo 3.12 pads and BW scoops.

Have you ever hit up Grandsport? A bit tough on tires but a fun little track. I do hit NCM every year at Camaro Fest. You guys should try and join us this year in July. That track is phenomenal. Cheers...
