That's appreciable feedback. Maybe a note could be added stating non-OEM-hoods may/may not have this provision.

Any noticeable difference using the plastic clip instead of the jack nut? Using the plastic clip also be my preference.

I tried to use the plastic clip in the center, but it would not pull the bracket flush. (Hood curves in the center) installed the jack nut, which took all of 30 seconds, and all is good and tight now. If you ever go back to stock, you would just use a bolt in the center instead of the clip. Not a big issue in my opinion.

There is another vendor thats sells a bracket like this, but there is two of them, one on each side. But they're hard to order through, any interest in making a double one? I just worry about high speed runs, say top speed run, would 1 bracket be enough at 190 mph?

I'm not sure enough air pressure is captured that this would be a problem, but I couldn't say because I can't produce evidence.
Something I might try is chopping my first insert panel (the one we remove for this bracket) up and make more slots for the air to pass. I'm wondering if we need to add heat tape or something to the underside of the insert to protect it from engine bay heat, kind of like the OEM panel would. I think it's entirely possible to add some to the CF insert, in conjunction with my bracket, but I'm not sure I can make that tape job look good. I really like the new bracket. I could see the utility of using two, like Booher pointed out, but this is a sturdy product, and supports the insert really well as far as I can tell. I think that's a fair point to think about, regardless. JMHO

More like steam from the water getting burnt off on the manifolds.
On a side note I ordered mine at last! I'm all for cooling despite E85.

Just got my stuff installed. Love the setup, but if I may add a little bit of constructive criticism here, I am not a huge fan of the jacknut. It seems like excess work for a part of the general setup which is the weak point in it all. Moving forward I would recommend a rivnut instead but I understand that most people are not familiar with, nor will they spend the coin for a rivnut kit with the installation riveter.
Outside of the actual products I want to say thank you so much for all of the support and sending me some new hardware as well Gabe. Dude you rock!

I have the same CF hood as stated above. Has there been any testing on the CF hood, I would hate to see it vibrate and crack it or something. It seems like the bracket under the hood may help to strengthen the CF hood? I just noticed mine is missing some screws so I guess the new bracket wouldn't hurt anything? I do like the idea of better air flow. |

Sounds like it fit, which I would expect, because we use the same holes as the water diverter. Based on how flimsy the water guard is, I can confident in saying that it provides zero structural integrity. If it helps, I have no problem with you returning the bracket if you dont like it, although I am confident you will

If you are worried about the holes you are using for installing the bracket, it should be hand tightened and not overdone, similar to how the rain shield is re-installed. You may run into issues using all the supplied nuts from GMS, so I reused all of the OEM nuts and One GMS nut for the center as it was easier to install than the OEM nut. (See picture below). P.S. I do not have the hood pins in yet. Let me know if you have any other questions though, happy to help! |
